Today I have been confronted by two obstacles on the road to a healthier life. The first and perhaps most important....I will admit that I have a problem with smoking....and I'm not talking about cigarettes here...nor am I referring to heroin or crack or anything like that, so I'm sure you can draw your own conclusions about which vice I'm meaning. I have smoked since I was 15, cigarettes I quit when I was 20. Now at twenty five, I am what you would call psycologically 'addicted' to a non addict...

Well spring is definately here...and with that thought in mind I've been getting stoked to start my runs again. I really need to purchase some proper shoes though, my shoes are NOT what you would call cross trainers. This year my hubby has said he will be going on runs with me, which has me more thrilled than ever now that I have a willing partner on this weight loss journey. I've also found an amazing online community for like minded hoopers - hoopcity.ca that is absolutely fabulous, and h...

The battle with the bulge has so far netted me this : a total loss of 10 Ibs. I have been learning a lot of lessons learned along the way and have developed a VERY strong respect for the power of portion sizes, scheduled mealtimes, and eating healthier. To my utter delight my fitness journey had an unexpected treat in store for me - a new hobby! Hooping has become the main c...

Burn the scale then move on

Here's the deal with the qoute I chose for my title; it was in the August edition of Shape magazine featuring Jennifer Love Hewitt, a real down to earth gal who proves not all celebrities are stick thin waifers. The reason I chose to qoute Miss Hewitt is because her advice rang so very true for me in my own life. I knew I hadn't been true to my exercise and diet regimen, and when I weighed myself, the fear of gaining that weight I had worked so hard to lose became a grim reality and overwhelmed ...

Today marked a new day - I felt the best I have in years. I weighed in on the scale at work a couple of days ago and to my delight found out I have lost another 5 lbs!! I am 48 days into my lifestyle change and have managed to lose a grand total of 8 pounds. What a great way to start out after my vacation where I slacked off a bit haha. I really feel like I can swing this as a lifestyle change and not just some "diet". I'm planning to use the recipie search feature to tr...

Well I am back from vacation and feeling better and more heathly and happy then ever!! I took my hoop out and played with it alot while I was gone and I stayed active every day. Today I had noticeably lower energy levels than usual because I gardened all day in the hot sun so I was a little tired and just couldn't seem to stay hydrated enough. I waited until just a after 8 pm to go for my cardio intervals, and I went 4.07 miles tonight and I pushed myself hard so I am happy with my progress.
    Monday evening will be my...

Today was wonderful! For starters, last night the hubby and I went to the produce store and bought 4 boxes of fruits and veggies, $95 worth altogether. We ate beef stew (canned, sigh) and toasted tuna fish sandwiches for a rather latish supper at a little after 7. For breakfast I had a toasted tomato sandwich with miracle whip and salt and pepper  (yeah yeah, yeah lol sodium is evil I know). I weighed myself today at work and found out to my absolute (eeeeee!) delight, I have lost 3 lbs!! S...

Made it to the adbandoned temple today, my goal during two weeks of walking and now the 3rd day of jogging intervals so that feels great to know I am getting stronger and stronger as time goes on. I measured the distance with Google Maps Ruler, and it came out to exactly 1.66 miles from my driveway to the temple, so 3.32 miles there and back. I w...
