All I can say is PHEW!  When starting to eat all natural food and take away ALL processed foods, your body frees up energy that was used to break up those processed foods and focuses the energy on releasing stored up toxins.  It is more complicated than that, but that is the gist.  Bottom line, I went through a serious detox just from eating all natural foods the past 2 weeks.  My skin bropke out in horrible eczema, my muscles ached all over, and the fatigue was out of t...

After having the stomach flu, I am trying to get back on track.  No easy feat I can assure you!  I lost my cool today with hubby.  I feel horrible!  I just got so over whlemed!  I am trying to start this diet - modified from the actual diet, but still not easy.  I had to go shopping and clean up around the house.  No biggee, but I am also starting a new curriculum for my kids (we homeschool)....couldn't even think of doing a full day with them!&n...

6 lbs down in 1 day = no fun!

Yes I lost 6 lbs in one day - but not by trying!  I was visited by the nasty tummy bug the other day.  I have taken care of a number of people at the hospital lately with this nasty bug - it looks like it last about 2 days.  Thankfully mine only lasted 1 day!  However I have yet to eat - my stomach does not feel like it can handle anything but water and broth yet.  My head feels like it will implode - caffeine withdrawal I am sure!  :)  I have contemp...

The last few days have been VERY busy!  I have been doing a lot of food prep for my diet.  I made a chicken and vegetable soup yesterday - I had simmered broth overnight with chicken bones.  Then in the morning I strained the broth and set it back on the stove.  I then chopped up 1/2 butternut squash, 1/2 onion, 1 broccoli head and one cauliflower head, along with about 10 baby carrots.  I cooked these in the broth for about 40 minutes, then added shr...

Getting through Christmas was hard - so much food!  But we are now past that and I can get on with getting healthier!  I am starting a diet called the GAPS diet.  This diet was never intended for weight loss purposes.  Instead the doctor that wrote the book (Dr. Campbell-McBride) devised this diet for those suffering from auto immune disorders.  Initially it was for children who had autism and ADD and the like.  But then the parents were doing the diet with the...

I am new here- I have researched weight loss support groups online and this seems to have a lot of tools I need.  I belonged to another site quite a few years back and it worked great - I felt more motivated to keep going with my diet and exercise when I was blogging my journey.  I lost up to 90 lbs in approximately 1 year.  However this past year I gained 30 of it back (29 to be exact).  Very depressing, but understandable given life circumstances.  All I...
