Trick & Treating Myself

Halloween always kicks off the Season for Over-Indulgence. Each year, I buy candy for neighborhood trick-or-treaters. But, the number of kids that actually knock on the door is pretty tough to predict. And, I find myself stuck with a 3/4-full bowl at the end of the night. This year, I decided to purposefully buy candy that I don't really like -- Trick myself, rather than Treat myself. I got up early today to workout after a fall off the ol' workout wagon. 8 days passed between my last workout and today. My longest stretch of laziness since I started using FitClick. I'm trying to become a better cook. Just started using the Create new recipe feature. I love it. I added a bunch of my favorite recipes, and ones I had ripped out of magazines, but had yet to make. Last night, I pieced together 3 new recipes to make dinner. The entire meal took well under 30 minutes to prepare. Fill 'Er Up

Hit the road in my car every weekend this month. And, I am happy to report that I did not hit any fast food venues along the way. In the past, road trips have always been an excuse to stock up on snacks at 7-11 or stop at McDonald's for lunch. These days I'm packing a mini-cooler with my own beverages & treats. I brought some 100 Calorie Packs which I know are gimmicky (more packaging & more money). But, portion control is a must for any diet plan especially when it comes to snack foods....

Testing out some yoga poses & stretches to alleviate some lower back pain issues. I have had mild low back pain for the better part of this past year. I'm sore from playing horseshoes yesterday. (That's embarrassing.) So, my roommate decided that she wants to be a baker. She made 3 different, equally tempting, batches of cupcakes this past weekend. Inspired by my diet prescription yesterday, I discovered I make a mean Turkey Burger. I used 1 pound of lean turkey meat & added some basic spices & condiments--Worcestershire sauce, light soy sauce, mustard, parsley, cayenne, garlic powder, ranch seasoning, salt, & pepper--basically, whatever I found in my cabinet. About to log off for a long weekend away from my FitClick workout tracker & calorie counter. I got in a workout this morning and yesterday evening after work. Caution: Workout May Cause Extreme Boredom

I recently decided to decrease my intensity & increase my time for the cardio workout (usually elliptical machine). I had been doing 20-30 minutes at a high level. For my last few workouts, I dropped the level a few notches and increased the time to 45 minutes. I was chatting with my boss about how I'd been using FitClick's online workout trainer.
