Multivitamins, bad for you?

 Rating: 5.0/5.0

I had already been considering not taking a daily multivitamin anymore after the bottle I have is gone, but this study is convincing me even more that I don't need it and may even be better off without it. I have been monitoring my intake of essential vitamins and minerals and I am getting plenty of everything w/o the vitamin and I am WAY over on vitamin A - which concerns me some.

Giving up machines for Lent

Monday, March 15, 2010 at 11:01 AM filed under Exercise & Fitness postings
Half jokingly - I am giving up cardio machines for Lent. Instead of doing warm-up and cardio intervals on a machine (treadmill, stepper, elliptical, etc) lately I've been getting creative w/ body weight pulse-spikers and I feel like I'm working a LOT harder. My metabolism has been up a lot more too, I'm constantly eating and also feeling more lean.

Warm up fav: 50 front kicks, 50 side kicks, 50 pony kicks, alternating legs, resting between sets. + arms: 50 front jabs, 50 uppe...

I have been reading Lou Schuler's book, "The New Rules of Lifting for Women: Lift like a Man, Look like a Goddess", and have decided to start using the workout program in his book beginning Monday, Oct 19th. It's a 6-month program divided up into 7 stages which get progressively more difficult. I've entered stage one into Fitclick under the plan name, "The New rules of Lifting Stage 1", you can also find it by searching on Schuler or my username:...

Had a great workout today - went up on weight, down on reps. Felt like I could have done more reps on everything. This morning checked my measurements and plugged them (and original ones from 2 weeks ago) into's BMI calculator - I've lost 6 lbs of fat and gained 5.5 lbs of muscle in TWO WEEKS...this is definitely the fastest I've seen changes in my body, including stints with 3 different trainers.

Warmed up with a 1 mile treadmill run - ran the first 1/2 mile at 5.5 on a 2 i
