recipes

I try to use the food log and the exercise logs....I'm off and on again with them. But I do use the recipe creator I've posted about 20 recipes...they probably aren't the healthiest well...some are some aren't lol, but whatever I eat I try and post the recipe so that it's easier to track where all the calories went. All my recipes start with "Sheena's" so it's easier to find when searched.

So today is the start of Feb....are you all ready for this? We should all be 10lbs lighter my the start of March. Good luck and we can totally do it!

eating at home more

Well Warren and I haven't been eating out as much. This week has been okay, not as good as I could have been but like Carl says, it's a gradual lifestyle change it's not gonna happen overnight. So as long as I keep up on the right path then I'll be fine. I haven't checked my weight for a little while, I just keep posting what it was the last time I checked.....I actually don't want to check cause even if I gained a half pound I'll get very discouraged and that won't help me.

How's everyone else doing?

Flu
I have been very sick with the flu all week. My lack of appetite has done wonders for my diet ): I wish the most weight I've lost in 3 months wasn't due to a complete lack of appetite/ ability to keep things down. I wish I could work out, I miss it badly. I'm not the best dieter, but I've got a good work out schedule down and I feel bleh without it. I actually just feel bleh.
Fact of the matter is, when you're just starting up again working out, it's never going to look fun from this side. Think of all the extra energy you'll have afterward, and how good you will feel about yourself for doing the damn thing.
Good luck team,
Rachel

Get Well Soon Rachel!
Hi Everyone,
Aww, hope you feel better soon Rachel. You have been doing so well too. I'm sure once you feel better you'll be right back at it
Sheena, I only got weighed to see if what I am doing is getting results lol. I'm not going to weigh in again until the end of the month because i'm like you and get discouraged if the 'thing' doesn't move or god help me goes up!
Got to go for some blood tests I hate needles! but I must I suppose.
Have a great weekend! ~ Cathy.

Same Weight
Hello Everyone,

So far no change, getting frustrated...I've been eating less and I've been going out for long walks...what's the deal? am I gonna have to do something more than walking?....I did have a ladies night with my friends and drank a lot...but I did dance a lot too...could that have wrecked it?

Anyway that's how I'm doing, how about all of you? Rachel are you still feeling sick?

What's everyone doing for exercise?

Feeling better!
I am feeling better yall, thanks for asking.

Sheena, I've wondered the same thing you have. If you do well all week with diet and exercise, then blow it completely one day (like margaritas do with me every other week) does it ruin everything? Kinda seems like it.

As far as exercise I definitely think that walking alone is not enough. As soon as I incorporated weights into my workout plan, I started losing inches and actually feeling strong and healthy. For people like us (trying to slim down) I think like 3 days cardio with a little weight training, and one day strength training with a cardio warm-up. Mix up the order as well. What Carl said, and what my experience has been is if you do the same exercise and eat the same foods everyday, your body gets used to it and you plateau. For instance:

Monday: speed walk for 30-60 minutes
Tuesday: 10 minute walk, 3 sets of 10 squats with two 5# weights, 3 sets of 20 bicycle crunches, a couple sets of "the plank", and a 3 sets of 20 push ups
Thursday: 45 minute walk, with 1 minute running. Like, walk 10 minutes, run 1 (repeat)
Saturday: Cardio exercise video or Wii fit

Then the next week, do the same things in a different order, and keep increasing as you get better. If you feel like you're not going to work out one day, get on the floor in your living room and do 50 crunches and as many push ups as you can. It will take less than 10minutes and if it becomes a daily habit, that's 1,500 crunches per month. Sorry if that was way too much info, hopefully it'll be helpful.

Cat, 2lbs is awesome! 2 lbs a week is 8-10lbs a month and that's the goal! Rididwave, if we can do it you can too! We all will reach the goal this month no excuses!

WE WILL DO THIS!

Do you know your calorie needs?
Hello everyone,

Well it looks like my weight loss journey is over. I have lost 220 lbs; I am at 177 lbs. I have lost all the weight I will need to loose. I just have the excess skin to tighten up, but I am seeing my stomach muscles again and have gotten my v cut in the stomach area back. I have the before picture and should have an after picture to post soon.

Question: Do you know your daily calorie counts for intake and daily use?

For my height (5'8"), weight of 177 lbs and exercising twice a day, I need to eat 3200 to 3300 calories a day to maintain my weight. When I was loosing weight I limited my calorie intake to anywhere between 1700 to 2400 calories a day less than my daily maintain number. Which means I was burning off 900 to 2500 calories a day (2500 when I was really heavy). In a week, I would burn up to 17500 calories over my intake which equals up to 5 lbs.

I know you have probably heard this before but I am going to say it again because it works. If you reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories a day, you will loose 3500 calories or 1 pound a week. I write this to say: One day is not going to blow everything you have been working on unless the calorie intake is more than the excess you have used. I know I have had days where I could not stop eating. It seemed like my stomach was a bottom less pit. But, I kept eating healthy and exercising and I lost the weight.

My calorie intake now is about 3000 calories a day and I am eating like crazy which is driving me mad (its all the walnuts, peanuts, and cashews I have got to slow down a little). As you know because I mention it all the time (too much really), I did all this with a heart condition and come to find out I have a hernia. The hernia was hiding under all the fat. It took me a long time to loose the weight, and I know if you keep trying and moving forward you can too. If there are any tips or questions please ask. I have been where everyone is and probably have had the same problems. I have had a year of trial and error.

Good Advice.
Hi Everyone,
Congrats on making goal Carl..that is awesome
Yes I know my calorie needs but always seem to exceed them lol. You had your weightloss plan down to a science but thats what it is really simple math I am so looking forward to seeing you pics!
I just got weighed i'm down another pound I know it could be more if I would incorporate some exercise into my routine hehe.
Sheena and Rachel, I don't know why one day off plan would make a difference it doesn't to me so don't have the answer but I think there is something in what Rachel said Sheena you have to mix it up and bit. Good Luck and keep at it~ Cathy.
