Hey Everyone
Got up and had some cereal for breakfast! Didn't eat a whole lot about a cup of cereal and a half a cup of milk! Was satisfied so I didn't eat anymore! Eliminating unnecessary snacking from my diet as well. Did a little exercise on the treadmill this morning about five minutes! I know its not very much and soon I hope to be able to do more. My treadmill is inclined and I don't know how to change it. Its got a high incline if it wasn't so high I think I could do it longer at one time! But for now I am satisfied doing it five minutes at a time 4-6 before noon. Here in a few minutes I am going to jump back on the elliptical machine for 20 minutes or so. My calves hurt like crazy from yesterdays go around. Can't wait to see results! I am not expecting to see any yet! but maybe by the end of the week! That would be amazing! Do you guys weigh yourself weekly, daily, monthly? Do you do like i do and keep track of it on the mirror where i see it everyday? What are your over all goals?

the best layed plans...
Hi all!
Rachel, it's so incredibly good to hear people say they drink during this process!!! I don't want to give anything up, but still want to have success. I'm a bit like Carl, I used to drink much more than I do now, but have now limited it more to weekends. I do have some drinks during the week, but actually manage to keep it in moderation during the week, having 1 or 2 glasses of wine one or two nights during the week and letting it all hang out on Friday night. I was remembering the other night how when I started this back last April, I was full of determination and really watched what I was eating, still eating all the stuff I liked but taking smaller portions. Somewhere over this loooongg winter I seem to have lost my ability to control myself. Damn girl scouts got me over the weekend. The cookies are out of the house now and on my hips!! Had baked salmon last night in self defense. I don't want to wait until spring finally springs to get started down again, but my best layed plans for getting exercise are under attack by all the things everyone needs from me. How do you tell the people you love to give you a bit of personal time???? Sometimes even 5 minutes of exercise seems like it will just do me in. Guys, I could just ramble on here for hours about all the things I've learned about weight loss, but applying them to myself these days just seems to have gotten really hard. Oh, well, deep breath and jump back in!

Welcome to the new folks. I really enjoy reading all your posts, and believe it or not, it really helps to get my determination back up.

intervals
Hey Carl,
The interval thing is a great idea. I had just been reading about that yesterday. It's something I've known before, but like I said, applying that stuff to myself is a whole 'nother story! I was reading how you can greatly increase your caloric burn by alternating speeds, whether it's walking/jogging or biking at a steady pace then ramping it up for a couple of minutes then back down again. I'm going to give it a try.

Henryswifey, don't jump in too deep too fast. Getting way too stiff and sore is a good way to talk yourself into skipping workouts. Slow and steady just to get started and get your muscles used to the idea.

Does everyone drink enough water?? Gotta tell ya, I hate the stuff, but was finally convinced by a life coach last year to start drinking it anyway. I tried putting flavoring in it, and I tried carrying the bottle around with me all day, but I just couldn't get myself to drink it. I ended up putting a reminder on my computer calandar that says drink water. I snooze it for every 30 minutes. Every time it pops up, I take my little 5 oz cup and walk to the water cooler and shoot it down like medicine. I can't believe how much water will aid you in weight loss. I've become a real believer.

Does anyone else completely obsess about weight loss? I have to remind myself to shut up now and then so people don't get sick of hearing my go on and on about it all the time!! And with that in mind, I'll shut up now!

Insanity
Hi Everyone,

Hey Carl and Leunybin....high intensity interval training is how I lost 4 pounds this week! I've been doing the beachbody insanity video by Shaun T and I've been trying to document it on youtube...so far I only made one video but I was going to make another one today...if you want you can follow me on there my channel is sheenajoyhm weight loss....I'm still new to youtube but I think that's how you can find me on there. Leunybin I have a hard time drinking the appropriate amount of water too...I don't mind the taste but for some reason I just can't drink it, I'm never thristy which probably means I'm dehydrated but I like the way you are reminding yourself to drink more, I might have to try that too.

Hi Henryswifey, I have big goals which are really intimidating so I've broken them down to just 10lbs each month that way it's more manageable. When I was sick a couple of weeks ago I actually gained lots of weight some how which really upset me cause I was so motivated before I got sick but I'm down 4 right now and I know I've gained muscle cause I can feel it so I'm on the right track. What are your goals?

Hey Cathy haven't heard from you in awhile, is everything okay? Hope you are alright and can't wait to hear from ya.

Checking in....
Its not a whole lot of exercise I am doing. The treadmill thing is only at like 2 mph which is somewhat slower than my normal walking pace. But I understand what you all are saying. For me its really easy to convince myself to skip an day here or there or for good in that matter. I think I know if I don't push myself then I wont do it. I feel the only reason I can do only five minutes on the treadmill is because I don't push myself to do it. I wouldn't be able to do the 20 minutes on the elliptical if i didn't push myself to do it. It has a little count down of how many calories I am burning so push myself to get it from 150 down to zero. Its really motivating for me.
I don't really drink a lot of water either. I definitely don't consume as much water as I should. But its not like I am drinking a lot of pop or juice either. I just don't hardly drink at all. Its something that I am really working on.
As for my goal, its a pretty big one lets just say at ten pounds a month it would take me till after summer to get where I want to be. . On the bright side of things though I have lost three pounds this week! Which is very very exciting for me!!!! I am so proud of myself. I plan to really keep up with what I am doing! I'm so ready to meet my 10 pound goal this month! I am ready to be ten pounds away from my starting weight! Don't want to do anything but put pounds between me and that starting weight! Hoping to be 40 pounds lighter by July/August!!!!!!

worked out too hard today

OMG, I think I pushed myself too hard today...I'm just so ready to see results so I put everything I had into my workout and it caused me to be litterly sick and now I'm seeing stars (which means I'm so dehydrated). So I'll take this as a learning experience...it's good to push yourself but make sure you know your limits...now, will I follow my own advice for next time? We'll see I guess lol.

clock is ticking
Hi all!
The clock is steadily ticking away the month of March and I'm getting absolutely no where, just grinding gears and spinning tires. It seems almost every minute of my time is taken just lately. I am able to get to curves quite regularly, but my evening bike ride just keeps getting put off to tomorrow and I haven't caught up to tomorrow yet. I'm glad to see some of you are having great results. Way to go Sheena! I wouldn't be brave enough to post anything I did on youtube. I've only recently been able to stop myself from draping myself in way oversized sweatshirts!

As far as what my goals are, well, I guess they are kind of fluid. I just know that I still need to lose somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 more pounds, after the 18 I've lost. I guess when I get there I'll decide then if I'm where I want to be. I just know I'm not there now.

Henryswifey, good for you!!! A 3 pound weight loss right off the bat is great incentive to keep going.

Shrekster, It's not if you lose 10 pounds, it's when you lose 10 pounds, right???

More company tonight and I can see my bike ride slipping away again. Sigh.

Have a slender kind of day all!

up and down
Baby showers, guests, fun! But that made the 7 lbs lost turn into a 4. But it's still a 4 right? (But a 4 just seems so small when I look at how much I have to lose.) And I am back on track with my diet and working out at least 3 days a week so I should be set for 10 by the end of the month.

Still loving my Zumba. Starting to get most of the steps on the 20 minute express down. My almost 3 yo tries to do it with me so I trip over her sometimes but it's so darn cute! And I know it is setting a good example for her so I try and do it when she is awake and leave the treadmill for nap time. (I do intervals on the treadmill, walk at a 3 for 2 min and then run at a 6 for 1 min.)

I also drink a couple times a week, mostly wine but sometime beer or hard A too. I'm trying to keep account of the calories but so far it does not seem to be effecting my weight loss.

Thanks you guys for keeping me motivated and on track!!

just another day
Hey all!
Not sure how I missed your post yesterday Sheena. Wow! I don't recall ever working myself so hard I got sick! And stars? You're right, you have to be dehydrated to see that! Moderation in all things, girl, even exercise!

Dreamer, zumba sounds like fun. I think they are going to start a class at our local Curves. I'm not exactly the most coordinated person, but everyone says that just adds to the fun. Good for you for setting an example for your little one.

It's just another average day here in my world so nothing interesting to share. Have a great day all!
