Advice on night eating
I have a huge problem with eating at night (i.e. I will literally wake up at 2 or 3 a.m. and eat) I worked night shifts for many years and it's like my clock is set in reverse. I've tried numerous things but nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

Clues
You may have glucose imbalances. Try eating limited starchy carbs, not cutting them completely-balance with many variety of other foods. I would say, eat plenty of complex carbs, but also try to get some healthy saturated fats like coconut oil, or grass fed beef and dairy. Sometimes it's not "when" we eat, but what we eat. When we look at the foods we are reaching for it tells a lot about our deficiencies.

You're not alone
I have the same problem.I am a CHO addict! I also have problems sleeping and awake 3-4 times a night and that when I will eat. I will binge sometimes-last binge last week a 1/2 g of vanilla ice cream. I swear its mindless eating and once I get started I can't stop.
I've tried everything except having healtly snack available.
I'm going to try to keep some celery, carrots mozzarella sticks ready. Also I was thinking maybe peanut butter with the celery might do something for my addiction.
Good luck.

I use to have that problem eating in the middle of the night. Now when I wake up late at night, I'll drink water. I keep a 32 oz water bottle next to my bed. I'll grab that an down it. If you do give in to eating in the middle of the night try a healthy snack like fruit a 100 calorie packaged snack or a fun size candy bar if you want chocolate. Good luck to you!

Yes
I used to have cravings at night if I ate too much sugar or bread/carbs or just too many calories during the day. Caused my blood glucose to spike up and then crash. The lows happen when we are sleeping sometimes. I know, I used to have to keep crackers by my bed or some nuts. It is kinda like when a baby wakes in the night, b/c it needs a feeding. It must harken back to this more vulnerable need somehow.

thanks everyone
I have set up some eating plans avoiding carbs later in the day-I am also going to try the water tip (I think it will help) I may feel like a jailbird lol with water and crackers at my bed-side but it is worth a try. Will let everyone know if I beat this "Need to Eat" in the dead of night.
