Am I doing this right?
I started doing serious diet and exercise last week. When I started I was 145lbs, this week I was 148lbs, after detox yesterday I end up in 146lbs. I am eating right and working out at lot with a personal trainer I don't understand why is my weight going up instead of down. The other thing is that my diet mostly consists of grilled or bake chicken breast or fish with salads or grilled veggies, protein shakes and fruits. I am not sure in what order I am supposed to be doing this, some sites suggest fruits in the morning only and light the rest of the day. I feel very limited on my food choices and deprive and I am scare this would cause me to quit. Any suggestions for eating right and well while losing weight and building muscle?
Thank You

Hang in there
I'm no expert, but I experienced the same thing. I've heard the theory that your body senses the dip in calories and starts to store it (some kind of ingrained starvation thing). This could be wrong, but kinda makes sense to me. Then once you adjust you will see a drop.

One thing I found that really helped was limiting my sodium. Once I cut back on that I saw the weight start to drop. Make sure you're drinking lots of water too.

Also remember that things like monthly cycle can effect your weight (esp when you're retaining water). Weigh yourself in the morning and on consistent days (I actually do it everyday, but I digress).

Are you getting any carbs?
Are you getting any carbs in your diet? From what I read, it doesn't sound like you are eating any. Your body needs a good combination of carbs/protein/fat, and your brain needs carbs to function.

Also, how many calories are you eating, and how many times per day? If you aren't getting enough calories, or you are going too long without eating, your body will go into starvation mode and slow your metabolism way down because it doesn't know when it is going to get more.

I've found that eating meats earlier in the day, then eating veggies for dinner seems to be working better for me. I'll cut up cucumber and tomato with some salad dressing as a light dinner. And since veggies are pretty much an "eat all you want" kind of food, you can really fill up on them without getting a lot of calories that late in the day.
