Any feedback and thoughts on the V-fusion Energy drink?
Energy drinks (usually Redbull) are not an uncommon thing in my household, but since I'm switching to a high protein/low carb diet I was thinking I should probably consider how that would be affected. I saw the V-fusion Energy on the shelf with the other V8 drinks today and thought it might be worth considering, especially considering the ingredients.
I'm usually wary of products that are too good to be true, so I read the nutrition facts trying to find any downside to the drink. So far all I've found are a lot of pros, including a lower calorie count (50 vs the 110 in Redbull), fewer carbs (13g vs 28g) especially sugars (10g vs 27g). I also noticed it's 50% fruit juice, so the mother in me checked the ingredients to find the other main ingredient is water and 2% of the mix is things like lemon juice, and various sources of the vitamin mix and caffeine from green tea.
Biggest pro of all is that it's almost half the cost of Redbull.
So, does anyone with better knowledge of these things have any input? So far I haven't been able to find any negative aspect to this drink.

Energy drinks
I don't think energy drinks are the answer. Look into other avenues.

Not a helpful answer, sorry
that would be an option except for one thing: my household already uses them. Instead of coffee (which is just straight caffeine and I usually have to add sugary/fattening flavoring to even stand the taste) or tea (once again, sugary additions for flavor) I'm looking for something that will give me a boost without too much fuss.
I'm already drinking V8 anyway, so my logic is that if it's a decent product why not integrate the two drinks?

Better for you than Redbull
I am no expert, at all but have been researching like crazy what I can and can not have on a lowfat, low sodium//sugar and low carb plan. I drink V-8 and find it gives me a ton of energy, because of the high potassium-around 820 in an 8oz. glass. The V-8 fusion is a vegetable and fruit mix, which is high in sugar, about as much as a soda. I know nothing about Redbull, except most who like it a lot don't really like coffee. I am a big coffee girl. I guess healthwise V-8 fusion is a smarter choice, but sugar/carbwise it is not so great. I have the pomegranite/blueberry flavor, and give it to my daughter but only in a watered down state. 3/4 water to 1/4 juice. Maybe you can still use it by watering it down this way? I think it is just a matter of picking your proverbial poison. The body registers carb as carb right? some are just more nutritious carbs than others. This is pretty good stuff, 280mg of potassium, and 100% vitamin C! Good luck.

Don't like the taste
I tried v-fusion for my long run and really didn't like the taste. I'm not really much of an energy drink user anyway so prefer juice or coconut water in one of my water containers on a long run.

Coconut Water
I'm interested in where you get the coconut water. Is it supposed to be better for you. What are the cal nutrients on the label, if you don't mind me asking for that. Thanks

My husband has been obsessed with coconut water. We get it at the organic/health food store down the street, but I'm going to start looking for it at Wallyworld since it's cheaper there.
It's low cal, 2g protein, 252mg sodium, 6g sugar, and 3g dietary fiber in a 1-cup serving.
I might add it to my diet, depending on if I make it work with the high sodium.
I've decided, also, that the V8 is a good addition to my diet even though it's high on the sugar side. I mostly like it because the juices balance out the caffeine so I'm not left a jittery bundle of nerves if I don't eat food with it.
