Anyone 65 or more trying to loose??
Haven't found any post from Senior's (65 & older) who are trying to loose weight.
Well here I am again. Need to loose 68lbs per Doctor's order if I want to have the low back surgery that will hopefully (my word) give me relief from severe back pain. Had this stenosis for 15 years, now I'm 65 in 2 months and time is running out. Lived with pain using only otc meds until I got to the end of my rope. In February, Surgeon said he would take the case, again I said "not until Sept.". Kind of prepairing for maybe not the best outcome. Atlease now I can walk (with pain). Bottom line ----- need to loose the 68 lbs. by Sept.
PS: have pain with any walking (use a cane) and can't any useful exercising.

There IS a group 50 and over which I occasionally visit... Maybe we should start one 60 and over, huh????

65 or older & Trying to Loose Weight
You think 50 is old! - wait until you get to 65 and realize that back then you looked and felt like a spring chicken. Think it would be great to have a "60 and older"thread. Need to hear how those my age have lost weight and kept it off. When I was 50 was able to loose 50lbs. by moderate exercise and low carb. Now, after menopause and having stopped smoking, the weight all came back with a vengence. The old successful diet does not work 15 yrs. later. Would love to have a 60 and older thread, but maybe there isn't anyone out there at this age ? ?

To be young again
Oh to have 10 yrs taken away from your "exercise" yrs.... I'm 63 and now the aches and pains in the knees and feet are really hard to overcome to do exercise.... Not complaining but just saying--- even your tennis shoes hurt your feet.... Hopefully you'll have better days at my age.... count your blessings bc these days will be here before you know it!!!

Over 60 and improving my health
After my physical in 2010, I have used the following tools to improve my health and lose weight.
1) Track my foods, exercise and weight using fit click on a daily basis.
2) Set weekly, quarterly and yearly goals.
3) I eat 6 meals daily and update my goal menu monthly based on
progress and goals
4) Exercise daily,(walking) 2x week (strength) and 1x week (flexability)
5) Other tools I have found helpful:
E-book,( Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle)
Pedometer
Heart Rate monitor
Total Trainer by Bayou Fitness ( much like the total gymn advertised
on tv but much cheaper. Allows you to take stress of your joints and
is used for strength or flexability!
I have lost over 70 lbs , body fat under 13%, and resting heart rate
under 65 bpm in 11 months using these tools!
Set goals you can acheive and stick to your plan!
