Bowflex and Wii
I have a Bowflex Extreme SE and a Wii with Wii Sports. How can I use these to make up a workout routine? I'm a 59 year old female and weigh 184. I'd like to get down to 150.

I'll try...
Hi Crisco,

Well, I don't have a Bowflex, but I am in the gym 6 days a week and have a Wii as well. There are really two different things you are looking for - cardio work and strength work. Both of these will help with losing weight. The cardio work will help burn calories, and building muscle will also help increase your metabolism since muscle is much more metabolically active than fat. I don't know that I would recommend Wii Sports for what you want. Some of the games can cause you to build up a sweat (boxing, for example), but it will be hard to burn very many calories playing bowling. I would recommend that you bite the bullet and buy a Wii Fit Plus package with the balance board. With this, you can do some simple step aerobics, work on your balance (which actually builds muscle) and a wide variety of other calorie-burning activities. There are also many other fitness related "games" out there for the Wii that utilize the balance board.

Your Bowflex is obviously primarily for building strength. You should be able to configure you Bowflex to allow you to a fair number of the exercises listed on FitClick. I would recommend that you have FitClick design a workout for you, but be sure you tell it that you only have machines and not dumbbells available.

If any of that is not clear, or you have other questions, I'll try my best to help.
