Desperately need energy
Most days I keep my calorie intake around 1300. Sometimes it's over and sometimes it's around 1200. I don't usually worry about it too much. I only started paying attention to it when I joined this site. Since then I've basically cut out the unhealthy foods from my diet (not totally though...I do believe in "cheating" once in a while). It was just doing that which caused my calorie intake to go from 2400 to 1300.
I work out pretty regularly. 3 days a week I do strength training and 6 days a week I do cardio. I don't do much cardio to be honest. I'm still building my endurance. I'm also incorporating some yoga into my routine at home after I work out (makes my muscles feel soooooo good!)
I have about 46 lbs left to lose. I'm not trying to rush that. My goal is to be 140 lbs by the end of the year. My next mini goal is to be 177 lbs by the end of March. I'm 186 now.
I just feel so drained. Working out used to wake me up but now, 2 hours after I get home from the gym I'm ready for bed. Not a good thing when you have 2 kids, husband is at work, and it's just after noon.
Anyone have suggestions? I'm wondering if maybe I need something else in my diet. I just want to go to sleep right now. I know I'm getting a decent night's sleep.
Could this be a detox from not eating junk anymore?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Protein Carb Balance
On the days u do cardio, you need carbs b4 u exercise+protein. The carb gives you the quick "energy"/increase in blood sugar you need immediately to keep you going. The protein you need for a longer range breakdown. It is your longer term "energy". For instance....say I'm going to do the treadmill, elyptical, whatever this morning. I eat oatmeal, sometimes w/a scoop of protein powder and sometimes not) and a piece of fruit. ....If I know I'm just doing strength training it's just the protein I have. From what I have learned, the protein shakes are recommended as a supplement and unless u r really busy that day and its the best u can do...not recom. for a source of protein that lasts because it is so processed. Make sense? Someone else may have other advice but that is what I have learned from being in the medical field, having done Weight Watchers, and going to a gym w/a nutritionist that they focus on a low carb high protein diet. Hope some of this helps.

Protein
It helped me a lot. It helps me stay fuller longer and gives me a tone of energy before and after working out.

Are you getting enough calories?
Are you getting enough calories? That alone can make you tired, especially if you're exercising. If you go to My Home under the Home tab it will show the difference between your calorie intake and calories used in exercise. The difference should not be more than 1000 calories on an everyday basis or you are essentially starving yourself of energy and you will eventually have bad reactions to that. (This is not to say that you can't sometimes have a big difference. It just can't be a normal way of proceeding.)
