Fact
SLOW, cardio, on empty stomach can tap into fat stores, but you have to keep your heart rate level way under max. You should be able to talk easily without getting out of breath, while walking. A great way for those who are already in great shape, but need that extra jolt into fatburn mode. A couple times a week for 20 mins a clip will show some change. Someone like me, has plenty of it (fat stores) to spare at the moment, but there was a time when I was pretty cut, and used this technique.

The body will use mainly fatty acids as an energy source when doing any exercise on an empty stomach.

I did not know this
Not that I'd eat a big meal before a work out anyway. Thanks for sharing.

Preworkout Meal
Protein and fast burning carbs. Half a turkey breast sandwich and a banana will do the trick. The turkey's protein gives your muscles some material to work with in the never ending process of repair. The fast burning carbohydrates provide easy energy for the workout. This combo also raises your insulin levels which opens up blood vessels and allows for a better pump in your working muscles. It also squeezes nutrients into your muscles to speed recovery and growth.
