Eating with fingers
Went out to eat tonight and I chose to eat my fried shrimp, oysters and french fries without a fork... It took me longer to eat and I feel as though I didn't eat as much. Do you think I am making this up? I may start doing this for all my meals that are "finger foods". Of course it would be hard to eat beans and rice with your fingers--

Longer The Better
It's better to eat slower so you will feel full and eat less. If using a fork makes you chew each bite longer, go for it.

No
There are actually many studies indicating the slower one eats the less food it takes to make a person feel full. As well as it better for digestion.

Eating with fingers
I agree with you, eating with fingers helps to eat slower and better for digestion. Recent research shows that when food touches the hands with the intention of eating, certain signals from the brain release digestive hormones that prepare the body to anticipate, receive, absorb and use the incoming food as needed.
