Following through
So I used to be a heck of a lot smaller than I am now. In two years I've gained about 40lbs and its really brought my self esteem and confidence down. I signed up for this site this past March right before my birthday and have not done a single thing with it. I talk myself up and decide I'm going to do it and then forget all about doing it. I know motivation or lack there of is a big part of why I haven't followed through with any of my goals. I know I can do this and I know this is what I want to do and need to do but I don't know how.
I've just printed out an entire month's program to help me keep track of what I'm supposed to do each day because I can't get online every day, so I'm hoping that will help.
Does anyone have any ideas that could help me with following through this time and actually doing the work outs each day? I really need help with the motivation and remembering to work out each day.

Little steps
It can be overwhelming trying to start everything at once and it's hard to contain the desire to just lose the weight already! so we all tend to bite off more than we can chew (pun intended) I suggest starting with just logging your food. Once you get your nutrition in check and see where you downfalls are, you can add the exercise. Even if you only log on a couple times a week, it helps since there is a lot of support from people going through the same struggles. If you need a friend, I'm here.

Evaluating you foods
I agree with antee911. I've been tracking my food for months and increased my activity. I couldn't lose weight. So I went back a couple of weeks and really took a look at my diet. I found out I was eating over 250g of CHO a day. So I told myself that I was going to stay between 100 and 150g-not much of a change and but a change I can live with. I also promised myself when I did eat carbs to pick the one with more fiber.
Make small changes you can live with and do not beat youself up if you slip. Just get back on the program.

I agree. You want to make life-long changes and not just keep fighting the same battle over and over. When I started I had little daily goals that I wanted to be my new habits. As I fought to make each one part of my new me I slowly added new ones and built upon established habits. Changing everything at once may seem like a more efficient approach but it is a recipe for failure.

Little consistent decisions lead to big changes
Tracking your food is a great start. Also, pick something you like to do that burns calories, i.e. walking or biking and start once a day with that. Build from there. It is the little decisions as to what to eat and do that move us towards our big goal of xxxx pounds lost. Each week modify your food or exercise moving towards where you want to be. It took me 3 years to get where I wanted to be (from obese to running marathons and triathalons). Each week I found I wanted to change more as it was working. good luck to you

There's nothing like being ready!
jennii207, are you sure ur ready? You know you want to start, and that you should start, and when you are really ready, not ashamed, guilty, prodded into starting, it will just happen, it won't happen or it won't last any other way, so I agree start small, just drinking eight glasses of water a day for a year averages a weight loss of eight pounds. Be happy with yourself right where you are for now and Just relax it will happen! Promise! All things in good time.
