All weight isn't created equally.
WHen people gain "weight" it can be a number of things...water, muscle, hormone imbalance, etc. It's not always just fat, however, I notice there is always one time of the month I gain. LOL!!!

Speaking of body shapes, I know when I was doing more my body was looking tighter. Sometimes after losing weight you can feel "fatter" somehow. It's all about distribution I guess.
