I get cravings before bed time
It's almost a compulsive desire to eat at night and often right before I go to bed. Anyone got any suggestions?

Milk
Try 4 oz. of skim milk. . .it helps you sleep, doesn't add too many calories and gives some added calcium which every woman needs. Just drinking the milk feels like having a small meal.

Lo Cal Snack
How about some diet gelatin? If you just feel like a snack, these are really tasty and it might satisfy that bedtime craving. Good luck!

when hungry at night
I struggle with the same problem of wanting to eat late at night when I am up doing my schoolwork for college. A couple of years ago I ran into someone while jogging and started chating with her about loseing weight. She told me that drinking a cold glass of milk works when you are hungry at night. I should take this advice myself.

Me too!
Ugh, I'm the same way! I'm sitting at the computer instead of going downstairs to nibble. I was thinking about some air-popped popcorn, but I am not sure if it's on my plan. It's only my first day, so I'm trying to be good. ;)

Are you hungry then? You might want to add something more filling and healthy for your last meal before that.

If you've changed your calorie intake on purpose and not by too much, try your best to ignore it. It goes away soon (in days, I mean) :)

If I can't stand it even though I shouldn't be hungry, I do drink milk, eat some wholegrain cereal, or I found this rye and whole meal bread that's really filling for a long time. Beans are great, if you like them. I'll eat a piece of fruit sometimes, too, but I don't find that very filling, myself. It depends on how sleepy I am.

Try to just take the edge off and go to sleep! :)

Water
I find that I do this as well. Mine is because I have built up the habit of watching tv and snacking in the evening, my habit is in the process of being broken. For me, learning that food is for nutrition and health, and not for comfort has been interesting. So when I go to that place of "I HAVE TO NIBBLE ON SOMETHING!!!" It is straight to raw veggies or a big glass of water. I usually don't get enough water in the first place during the day, so this doesn't mess me up by having to get up to go pee during the night, and a lot of times I mistake being thirsty for being hungry. Plus, water is 0 calories.

re: increase fiber intake to curb cravings
cereals low in sugar but high in fiber are normally my solution to late night cravings. about 3-4 hours before bed, i'll be sure to load up on fruit or cereal to put enough fiber in my body to last me the night until breakfast. high fiber foods make you feel more full for a longer span of time than foods low in fiber.
