I need motivation
My short story is i've always been over weight but then i gained 50 lbs when i got pregnant. My beautiful son is 3 months old and im still 240lbs (5'3 and 21years old). I have no energy and no support system. If im going to lose this i know i have to make the changes myself. Its the getting started part im having trouble with. Any advice for a single "new" mom?

Hang in there!
I know its rough right now! But it'll get better. You said you have a hard time starting, so just do little things at a time. Start by transitioning to healthier foods, buying more fruits and vegetables. Maybe add in little walks with your son (you know in the stroller) even if its just around the grocery store. Keep your chin up and make friends who are into the same thing you are. This is a good place to find people who care about you and are willing to be encouraging when you feel like giving up. Its not easy but soon it'll feel like second nature. Hope some of this was helpful! Sorry if it wasn't!

You can do it!!
Hi, Christy!
Lots of people on this site have been down this road, and you're not alone. I'm sure with the little one, you find that it's hard to find time to get exercise. Drena's suggestion of taking the baby for a walk is an excellent one. Remember, you don't have to exercise for an hour or more at a time. Break it up into small chunks. If you find you have 5 or 10 spare minutes you can do jumping jacks, running in place, squats, pushups etc for just those few minutes. Anything that gets you moving is great. For myself, I use the indoor bike during cold weather and that's another thing that can be done for a few minutes at t time. Baby is probably too small right now, but down the road a bit it's great to exercise while spending time with baby. I like to use my grandchildren as weights, lifting them up and down. It makes them giggle and I get a great workout!! I'm sorry to hear that you're lacking a support system. I've found that people on this site are all willing to give great information and support. I hope you'll post again and stay with it!
