Looking for cheap diet plans.
I'm on a budget, and can't find healthy meal plans that are cheap. I'm thinking about becoming a vegetarian because I don't really like eating meat except for chicken. I love chicken. But I'm willing to give it up. I was hoping that some people know some budget friendly healthy meal plans.

Healthy Eating
Look for chicken when it's on sale, the same goes for fruits and veggies. Anything in season should be at a great price. Eat less processed foods, or none at all. Think of it as a lifestyle change, not a diet plan. The cost of food is better than the cost of medical bills.

1144 is right! Also... Buy "one-ingredient" foods and make everything at home. Boxed food is much more expensive than home made.

Produce Stands
Produce stands always sell items much less than a grocery store...hope you have one near you to experience these savings

I will be receiving weekly boxes from a local organic farm this summer. There is a flat fee for a season's worth of produce delivered every Friday. I anticipate saving lots of $ by getting my produce this way :)

Eating on a Budget
I have been eating on a budget for years now. I learned not to buy too many "perishables" like produce...it hurts to have to toss it if it goes bad b/f I can get to it. Buy it as you "need" it. Berries go bad FAST.
Buy dry goods in bulk and have a good balance of vegetable/protein/complex carb/good healthy fats with each meal/snack.
Go to the store on Sat. mornings early...that is when they have "deals" mostly on greens/salads. Usually eat those immediately b/.c they lose vitamins quickly. Fruit is a bit trickier to get at low prices...sometime you can get a bag of bananas (mostly ripe) for $1.49! But bananas are cheap and nutritious anyway great for smoothies or alone.
I try to Buy chicken on sale , & try to get it for 1.50 per lb. Then-I either use it right away or Freeze it. I am getting a little more concerned about cheap chicken, b/c much of it is fed with GMO corn...but that is a whole other issue, and I digress...
Good Luck.

Did not know they did this!!
WOW, what a service.....guess I'm lucky that I have a stand within 1 1/2 miles from my house...of course on the drive there I have to pass a Sonic, LA Lagniappe, Mcdonalds, Seafood shop, KFC, Calif Pizza Kitchen, and many other food places that are tempting! lol
