April is tough.
What is special about the number 98?
You'd be better off, IMO, if you work on a healthy diet and exercise with a goal of losing 1 to 2 pounds a week on average. But concentrating more on how you look and feel then the number on the scale.
The steel weights are great - weight lifting is really good for you and really helps to transform your body. But you'll also need some cardio. This can be on a treadmill or cycle, but really, if you can go outside (like if it's not too cold, safe, etc.) cardio outside is much more fun. I'd try to get in about an hour a day - you may have to work up to that level over a couple weeks.
Since you are presumably in school, you probably have the benefit of access to a PE teacher who should be capable (and is almost certainly willing) of helping you with a specific plan using the resources available to you at home and school.
Good Luck!

98 lbs??
I don't know that 98 pounds is a healthy weight for you!!
Perhaps you should focus more on consuming the proper ratios
of foods and using a workout plan to make you stronger and more
energetic. I know it is difficult to just rely on the diet component and drastically restrict your caloric intake, but that is not the answer; especially not at such a young age. If you do this, or burn too many calories per day, your metabolism will slow down dramatically and can potentially cause huge weight problems as your hormones settle and you reach adulthood. The most logical way to go about your goal is not to focus on the weight, but rather the appearance and how you feel. Weights will not make you bulk up at all, and a little muscle mass will cause your weight to be a little higher without the bulge, I promise. Try eliminating all processed foods and monitoring sugar and saturated fats, but not calorie counting. Also, eat enough vegetables, and weight train three times a week. This will make you successful. I hope that helped! =]
