Love my baby, just not the belly he left me with!
I had my son almost 3 months ago. He is the love of my life, and my first priority is to keep him as happy and healthy as I possibly can. However, that doesn't mean that I can just let myself go. I'm pretty sure that I've lost all the "water weight" by now and what I'm left with is something I wouldn't wanna look at on the beach. I'm weighing in at about 180 now, though I havn't been weighed in a month and I don't own a scale. My new jeans fit looser than they did a month ago, so I'm pretty sure I'm not gaining more weight. Now with all that said, I do want to lose the weight but it seems almost impossible to get out to the gym let alone take a short walk down the road. Any one going through a similar situation? Any tips floating around?

You can track your calories eaten with the diet tracker ( and your calories burned with the workout tracker ( Then you can see your net calories on your home page. Good work.

This site is a great place to start losing weight if only for the information provided.

Things I've learned by using fitclick: I was eating healthy food but eating too much in a day, therefore maintaining my weight. I was eating too much sodium. I wasn't lifting enough weight. I was doing too many reps and not enough sets while weightlifting. I wasn't maintaining 70% of my MHR while exercising. I wasn't getting ENOUGH fat or carbs in my diet - that was a shock. I was eating too much protein.

I could go on!

My point is: educate yourself! It's the best way (at least, for me it was) to start making plans for your weightloss. I was frustrated for more than a year because I thought I was doing everything I needed to in order to lose weight, but the scale wouldn't budge. I felt like I couldn't lose weight and that I would be stuck @ 170lbs for the rest of my life. It was such a relief to know that the only thing holding me back from losing weight was myself!

The first thing I did was track my meals - and I mean everything that I stuffed into my mouth, even gum! Even while cooking, using too much oil can throw your entire balanced diet way off kilter. I read a lot of the posts on here and I realize what it is that has helped me the most and that is that I hold myself accountable for everything. No one is forcing me to eat that piece of cake. I used to go out with my girlfriends for dinner every weekend and would often find myself ordering a piece of cheesecake. Harmless, right? ...

My daily caloric intake should be 1350 or so. One little piece of cheesecake is 1980 calories! That little piece of knowledge made me stop cold: what am I working out for if I'm just going to stuff over half a pound into my mouth in one sitting?

I hope this helped a bit - this site is a great tool, really, I can't praise it enough! I've been using it since March 19th and since then I've lost 8lbs, which is a nice steady weightloss, and it's weight that I will be able to keep off.

lmdav --You are definitely right about the accountability. I started my healthier eating 05/21 and since then I have lost 32lbs. I think one of the reasons why is because now when i am going to eat something i think about how much calories, fat, sodium etc are in there and i don't eat it---I use to eat fast food, drink soda, and most of all LOVED sweets---- but when i started entering all my stuff in i saw just how much i was actually putting in my body--- the sodas alone were filling my daily caloric intake--- I mean its no onder i gained 50lbs since 2004---i was eating probably 2500-3000 calories a day. When I go out now i order like grilled chicken with a double side order of steamed veggies --- or most places now have healthier meals - You just have to really think about whether or not that piece of cake is worth it ----- :)

My son is 13 months old, and I'm also struggling to lose the belly. I've been doing Tabata every second day (20 seconds of intense workout, followed by 10 second rest, for 4 minutes), but can't seem to get past the 126lb. mark. I was 103lbs. before I got pregnant.

Give yourself time to heal. Also, if you are nursing your baby, that will also slow down your weight loss. I didn't start to lose weight until after I weaned my son... and you just don't have time to work out before then anyway!

Good luck! Watch what you eat, workout when you can, and just take it slow until you feel physically ready to push yourself harder. (you can always load up your stroller and go for a walk... that's a workout in itself! lol)
