Motivation: Impossible
I've been about 30 - 40 lbs. overweight for a long time now. So, im finally going to do something. Yays!! Only problem is . . .. I have zero motivation. None at all. Im trying really hard to get into eating less and healthier and actually getting up and doing something, but either im too lazy, or ive already destroyed my diet. I find that ive eaten a lot of bad food before ive even realized it and then i think well, its not too late. And then it happens again. I try to stop and actually thinking about what im doing, but somehow I always manage to forget. Somehow. Does anyone know a way to motivate myself to eat better?

motivation possible
I have been where you are and was there for YEARS!!! until the 40 lbs turned into 60.. I did not start with diet I started with exercise. I joined my local curves and go 4 times per week... then worked on NOT beating myself up for what i put in my mouth (not easy for me) anyway after the first month.. i gained 2 pounds but lost 11.25 inches around my body.. that was enough for me to keep going.. now I am tracking what I eat on this site and targeting 1200 calories a day and not worrying about what and how much unless I hit the 1200 and when I get there stop eating for the day. I drink a lot of water (always have) so I drink 12 oz of water before I eat.. we will see how it goes.. but it is something.. which is something which is better than before because that was nothing.. hope it helps.. always looking for women to chat with along this road to healthy destiny...

Yes you can!!!
I'm with Mzkaneella. My 20 became 40 became 50 and I just kept right on with the late night burrittos and mindless bags of chips. I spent a lot of time looking at sites like this, but never actually doing anything about it. The just about this time last year I just decided to get off my butt and go biking in the evening. In no time at all the weight was baling off on the side of the road and that encouraged me to try to find other ways to keep up the weight loss. I fully understand regaining conciesness with your hand in the extra large bag of m and m's way at the bottom! Try to find healthy low calories snacks to have around the house. Don't even bring the unhealthy stuff into the house, but don't be afraid to reward yourself just now and then with a little treat. After a while, just seeing the results on your scale helps you to become more mindful of everything you are putting into your mouth. I hope you find your personal motivation and run with it!

possible
Tansaku, you have to get your mind set right, like leunybinsaid, change the food around you to healthy food vs. fatty foods. I see alot of people stop eatting and then gorg. thereselves and that don't work. Use the diet tracker on this site and come up with a plan that is right for you now and be willing to change it as you progress. Good luck to you, but once you get over the hump, youv'e got it whipped.

Small Steps to Movtivation
As a doctor of behavioral medicine, I can tell you that my most successful patients are those who take small steps, appreciate who they are and where they are and give themselves the time they need to lose weight. You may be confusing motivation with taking action. Many of us have been trained to believe in "No Pain, No Gain" and that simply isn't true! We don't need to make huge sacrifices to achieve big results... it's a matter of taking imperfect action (small steps) EVERYDAY.. in affect it's a matter of time that you WILL lose the weight! Keep moving forward my friends! Don't give-up!
