Music and Motivation
I love music and exercise. I don’t know how gyms choose their music, but I don’t find it motivates me. It’s not aggressive. I find it hard to push when listening to love songs. I know, to each his/her own, right? To make matters worse, they play it too loud for the headphones that came with my mp3 player.

So, out of curiosity, what kind of music do you guys find motivating when you work out? Or is it not that important? I’m off to buy ear buds.

I like to listen to rock, metal, and alternative when Im lifting. But when I do cadio I like pop for the beat. When the Wife and I go out dancing we like country. I use Bose headphones with my iPod and I don't hear anything but my music :)

I made up a CD and have it playing all the time no matter where I am to keep me moving. I call it my grove and lose. Warm up " Feeling Inside" by Mary J Blige, then steady into " You Da One" by Rihanna, speed up with " Good Feeling" by Flo Rida, steady back into "Out Of My Head" by Lupe Fiasco speed up again with "Part of Me" by Katy Perry steady back with " Feel So Close" by Calvin Harris speeds up again with "Runaway Baby" by Bruno Mars, then cool down to " Show Me Everything" by Frederick. It's about 32 minute cd. Let's groove and lose!!!

I mix it up and listen to different play list. A few songs that really pump me up like "SOS" by Rihanna, "99 problems" by Jay-Z, "Jump" by Flo Rida, "Party up in here" by DMX, "Yeah" by Usher, "Shake ya tailfeather" by Nelly. I also like listening to disco. Anything with a up beat keeps me motivated while working out.

Groove and lose (or gain) indeed. I had to settle for a different brand of ear buds than Bose (some day...some day). I forgot about some of those songs you guys mentioned. Now I have a few ideas of what to add to my lists. My stuff is mostly Drum n Bass music (DnB) because it's so fast and energizing. I'm living in Beijing China right now and a lot of my other foreign friends are from the UK, where this stuff comes from. If you're into electronic music, you may want to check it out.

Thank for your ideas!
