NEW TO THE PROGRAM
Hi everyone, My name is Michael, i currently weigh in at 290lbs. I want to get in to the Marine Corps. I need to lose at least 40 pounds would like more like 50. If anyone out there has any tips i would love to listen. thank you and good luck to everyone

Thank you for wanting to serve our country with the Marines.

Your "Diet Tracker" page under the "My Tools" tab is a great tool for keeping track of your nutrition. You can click on "Edit Targets" and select what nutrient ratios you prefer as well as put checks in all the nutrient boxes so that you can use as many nutrient categories as possible on your Diet Tracker.

Since you don't want to lose muscle, be sure to include enough protein to feed your ideal weight, not your low-calorie weight.

Personally, what's working for me is:
aiming to lose one pound each week,
eating healthy 5 times a day (every 3 waking hours),
avoiding all things deep-fried,
eating beans & brown rice for dinner at least once a week,
eating fish for dinner at least once a week,
and eating spaghetti & Dreamfields low-carb pasta for dinner at least once a week.
Some mornings I have coffee followed by a 30g protein smoothie,
other mornings I have green tea and a Greek yogurt 32g protein sundae.
For late night hunger, sharp Vermont cheddar, whole grain fat-free Melba toast and 2 cups of water is a satisfying snack.
Snacking on fresh veggies marinated in walnut oil and Recaito with chickpeas and banana peppers is a healthy habit.

I make it a rule to break my diet at one or two meals per week and I still end up losing a pound (and keeping my sanity).

I've never calorie-counted like this before. I'm aiming to use this tool to form habits that will stay with me. It's working so far. A month ago I had to enter in everything before I ate it. Now I'm getting to know how much of what is right for me and at the end of a day when I log what I've eaten, it's sometimes perfect.

Well, this may be more than you wanted to know. You can eat a lot more calories than I can, so if I can do this, you can do this.
