No Weight Loss...
So I have been doing the custom workout for me on here for almost a month now. With My goal to lose some weight and get toned up/little more cut I have had completly the opposite happening. I know you gain muscle mass weigh semi-quickly but I have put on almost 10 lbs in the past month. Im eating well with myoplex meal replacements twice a day and taking NO xplode before workouts. What am I doing wrong.......

Supplements
A large factor in your weight gain probably has something to do with your supplement intake. You're essentially taking body building fuel... This will cause most people to gain weight - b/c that is what they are engineered for. Especially if you are taking them in conjunction with your regular diet. The idea is to pound protein and solid carbs to fuel your workout and recovery while preventing the body from going canabolic. They are designed specifically for muscle mass gain... once you have the muscle, then you cut to look ripped.

If your using these to substitute regular diet then perhaps you should slow them down a bit. If you are attempting to cut then choking down these supplements is a bad idea - from what I understand, I could be wrong. As they aren't designed with that in mind. You may consider utilizing only a protein powder like Muscle Milk or another before and after workouts while lessening your fat, carb and caloric intakes. Also consider a more circuit style workout...

Granted, a good chunk of your weight is probably water and muscle weight (especially if you're just getting back into training). NO Xplode is a creatine type supplement... it's going to cause muscle gain - and muscle weighs more than fat. The last time that I used Creatine - a long time ago - it caused me to gain quite a bit of weight both in muscle and water. I could be wrong, but that seems counter-intuitive to cutting.

If your goal is to cut, then keep your protein coming with good carbs (don't over do either - i.e. I wouldn't eat more than your body weight in grams of protein) and go for a more intense workout - you may try the six-pack abs workout that they have under "body part specific" or a circuit workout.

What He Said
What the previous poster stated. You're taking NO xplode which has creatine in it. The creatine in your supplements will saturate your skeletal muscles and cause them to absorb more water. This will help increase strength but may cause you to appear bloated. It's unlikely that you've gained 10lbs of muscle in a month for several reasons: 1. because that's hard and 2. because you're on a diet. If you want that chiseled look I'd drop the creatine and substitute your NO Explode with arginine. Arginine is essentially what your looking for in a Nitric Oxide supplement anyway and will help you achieve a pump by increasing blood flow. Many people will actually take diuretics to shed water weight in preparation for a show/contest. I don't think this is necessary in your case. Just finish off the NO2 and see what happens when you stay off it for a while.

Supplements
So as far as the Myoplex that I am taking can i continue to take that in the morning and take the pre-made shake after workouts? The lovely world of supplements are confusing to me as what to take and when...so any advice on that subject would be nice as well!

Supplements
I suggest that you continue taking in a healthy amount of protein... just make sure that the shakes don't contain creatine or a form of it that increases creatine production. (Some manufacturers don't accurately represent this - ala Muscle Milk - so check carefully).

If you want to steer away from creatine but need a good energy & pumps pre-workout supplement (to power you through your increased cardio and weight reps for cutting) you may want to look at Jack3d. It DOES contain a small amount of creatine and caffeine (less than any others that I've found) but plenty of Beta-Alanine - which you want. It has been recommended to me a number of times and I'm about to test it out with this week's body build cycle.

How many grams of protein (and what type) do you take every day? You should restrict it to your approx weight in grams (i.e. if you weigh 190, then eat 180 - 190grams of protein). Try not to go too far over when cutting... as you don't want to stack on excess weight.

I highly recommend the continued use of a post work out shake - at the very least. You can more easily get away with eating some good carbs and a little lean chicken before your workout... but afterwards you do need that recovery shake to prevent canabolism.

Supplements II
Currently I take in right around 170-190 grams of protien seeing that i weigh about 185ish.

Im thinking about just putting the NO away and trying some of the arginine since its inexpensive and worst case scenario im out like $10 for a 30 day supply.

As far as what I take for supplements now. I take the myoplex 100% whey 2-3 times a day and when I do a work out with weights I take one of the myoplex pre-made shakes on top a healthy diet. All of that sound right...just time to be super dedicated I take it?

Suplements
All of that sounds about right. Just make sure that you're eating "clean" while cutting. Nothing is more frustrating than NOT getting results quickly while cutting... and believe it or not, not eating clean will set you way back.

Other than that the supplements seem right. Arginine is a cheap way to essentially get your NO. Can't hurt, right? Though depending on the intensity of your workout you may want to consider a beta-alanine as well... or something that contains both (w/o the creatine). If your workouts aren't very intense then you probably don't need the beta-alanine.

Oh... and sweat shacking or wearing full sweats can probably help you shed a good deal of that water weight from the creatine.

next step
Whats beta-alanine and whats it do compared to arginine? I do work out pretty intense 2 days a week but thats it. I keep a lot of mixed workouts to keep the muscle confusion.

So where to now?

Beta-Alanine
It's a non-proteinogenic amino acid. It helps with power, endurance, holds off muscle fatigue and increases muscle mass. Supposedly it doesn't have the same "mass" effects of creatine but does boost muscular growth by allowing you to lift harder and longer.
