Positive Changes
So here it is week two of making positive changes in my life. I am on my last pack of cigarettes and I have been watching what I am eating. I have started to workout this week and I have run into a wall. I am really sore from working out and without having someone here pushing me I feel the urge to give it a days rest. But I know deep down if I do that one day may turn to two days and so on.

I am 38 years old and weigh 232lbs. My short term goal is to quit smoking and get below 200lbs.

I am determined to do this I just wish I had someone else here to do this with me. This is so hard. But I am determined to make my 40th birthday a birthday to remember.

Looking for some support!!!

I am right here with you!
My promise to myself this year was to get healthy. I had severe sleep apnea and a Dr. who just wasn't up to par. Finally after 3 months of going back for the correct order I got my sleep machine. 2 months after that I was finally sleeping normal again. Mission accomplished! Phase 2 was to become healthy from the inside. I do not want to depend on the quick fix pill or medicine to keep me healthy. I joined Weight Watcher's and began losing weight but it wasn't enough for me. The point system is great for those who do not want to worry about what they are eating just so long as they are losing weight. Me, I need to know as much as I can about anythng I do so did an online search and found Fitclick.
At first I entered in what I was eating to see how the nutrients balanced out. Not good at all. Then I used the suggested meals and tweeked them with what was available to me for a balanced diet. To date I am down 30 lbs. with many more to go. I do not mind the long haul as the foods I am eating are filling. I also give myself "free Sundays". This is not by anyone's advice just my own way of eating some of the good things but with much better control.
I am enjoying my new role in life and have begun nightly walks. One step at a time. Eventually I will build up the stemina to walk miles.
What I have learned this year is there may be a bad day or a slip up day but that is no reason to stop aiming for my goals. I am tired of not being able to do the things I did in my 20s and now that I am 42 feel I am still young enough to enjoy life. I will not give up and if you would like can be here for you:)

I am starting today!
I have been putting off making permanent changes, but today I am starting. I am 50 years old and 50 lbs overweight and need to make a change. I exercise a fair amount, but I need to control what goes into my mouth. I had a blood clot serveral years ago and lost the main vein in my left leg. If I want to continue to use that leg for the rest of my life I have to take off the weight.
If you can do this then so can I. If anyone needs support and wants to encourage each other let me know. I think the only way I can do this if with support and encouragement.
Looking for support as well.

You Go Girl
I hope you can quit smoking. I too would like to quit but feel I first need to get rid of at least 35 - 40lbs first. Please keep me updated on how and what you are doing to quit.

I am new to this site as of 20 mins ago.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Just starting out
I work out 4 to five days a week. Right now I do 30 minutes of walk/jog combo & I have cut my calories back a good bit. I probably eat between 1500 to 1800 a day. I have been doing this for over a month now, & have not seen any results. What am I doing wrong?
