Herbs
I use various herbs to season my food, such as basil, oregano, and tarragon. I also love garlic.

What Have You Tried?
Have you tried any new seasons yet. If so I hoped you liked the flavor.

Salt Substitutes
I have tried Mrs. Dash and although they are okay (many different flavors) I would have to say that my absolute FAVORITE salt substitute comes from Benson's Gourmet Seasonings (www.bensonsgourmetsaosonings.com) I love the Table Tasty. I Truly was amazed that there was no potassium or sodium in this seasoning. They have samples for $1.00 or you can just plunge in for a bottle. Too bad it is only mail order though

Some great alternatives
Depending on where you live and your ability to get some other cultural spices here's what I've found to be excellent substitutes. First is the spice Cardamom. It will give food a nice flavor and some use it to spice their tea! A little is all you need and it goes with many dishes. The other spice is Sumac which Persians use to spice kebabs. It is a dark maroon spice made from Sumac berries found along the Mediterranean which is different from our poisonous Sumac. The taste is very similar to lemon pepper.

There is a salt substitute (I have the Morton brand) that works for some things. I don't like it on everything so you can experiment. Otherwise I agree with many here... try different spices. I like the many varieties of Mrs Dash (esp Italian Seasoning).
