Sometimes it feels impossible
I know losing weight takes time and determination. I had lost 40 lbs by eating healthier. I didn't always eat healthy so it took a year. For most of 2009 I stayed between 180 and 190.

I've been working out and eating healthy for a month now. I've had 2 cheat days where I went over in my calories. I've been checking my calories and staying away from junk food.

I've also been working out 5-6 days a week. Most days I burn 200-400 calories, depending on if it's a strength training or running day.

I've lost only 3 lbs!

I don't know what else to do. I am a little smaller but not by much.

It's discouraging. I know I'll lose the weight. I know I'll lose the fat. But it's so hard.

weight is just a number
don't be discouraged. weight is nothing but a number. remind yourself that with all the working out you are doing, you are more than likely increasing your muscle mass, which leads to an increase in weight as muscle weighs more than fat. just keep it up and keep your goal in mind.

thanks
Thank you ChristRan. :) You're absolutely right. It's hard though when people are talking about how much they lost and I haven't lost a thing. I keep on trying to remind myself that weight loss isn't always equal with fat loss.

inches
are you tracking your inches too? I notice when my weight plateaus that my measurements continue to shift...

its working, the scale is just one type of measurement, think about how much better you feel, how much healthier your heart is, and maybe take your measurments to track things that way for a while.

GOOD LUCK<

you motivate me to keep going!

Calories
You might be eating too few calories. You are burning calories, but if your body doesnt get enough it goes into starvation mode and stores everything it can get out of a food. Try adjusting your calorie intake, of course using healthy foods, not just eating junk food.

Seems Od but True...plus get plenty of water
I was suffering from the same thing this last week Amethyst (only my weight had increased by 2.5 lbs!), but once i upped my calories (from 1400 to 1700+) and made sure i got lots of water in a matter of 2 days the 2.5 was gone and i am on may way to seeing the numbers go down again.

Also track your measurements though to get through those "plateaus". I wish I had taken mine at the start, it would have really helped me this last week.

Chin up, you're not alone...You/We will all reach our goals with each others support and encouragement!

The Way I see It . .
I think to myself that every ounce of weight I loose is better for my knees and over health. The pounds will take care of themselves.

Update
On 1/14 I had taken my measurements. I did it again at the end of January. On the 22nd of this month I think it was, I took my measurements again. Since 1/14 I've lost 2 inches. I've also lost 4 lbs. I'm a comfortable size 14 now (as opposed to the size 16 I was at the beginning of the year).

So while the scale isn't showing much my fat is going away. My calorie intake is around 1500. Sometimes more sometimes less. I'm not being highly restrictive with my diet.

*hugs* Thanks for all of the encouragement everyone!

Hang In There!
I know!! I am struggling with all of this too!! I am not a healthy eater. My kids are grown and gone off to do their thing. I eat/snack unhealthy all day long, or at least I did til a friend told me about FitClick. I have been trying recently. I am glad that I got on this site because it does make you aware of what u are eating.

Good luck on here and hang in there! It is hard. But I'm just tired of gaining more and more weight. My son is gettin married in April in Fl and I have to loose weight before April.
