Soy milk/estrogen/Hormon Replacement Therapy????
In a previous thread it's been said that soy milk has too much estrogen in it so should not be used....I'm past menopausal stage and am not on hormon replacement therapy so wouldn't it be ok to have this "extra estrogen" since my body is not making any anymore? Help---I'm at a loss on this one----

Check First
The articles I read said to check with your doctor first before using soy products.

Dairy Milk alternative
If you are just looking for an alternative to dairy milk, have you tried Almond Milk? There are no hormone concerns with it and I have adjusted my palate to it and really enjoy it! :) Also, I think it is even lower in calories than the soy milk.

Almond milk is delicious, I agree. It has less calories but more carbs than soy milk. I still drink skim milk but it has the most sugar per serving-unsweetened soy millk has only 1 gram, Almond milk has 7 grams and cow's milk a whopping 11 grams. I guess it is all a trade off, and you are concerned with the estrogen factor I found this from a website it may be what you were referring to:

Phytoestrogens (phyto meaning plant) are naturally occurring estrogenic compounds that are found in a variety of plant foods such as beans, seeds, and grains. Their chemical structure resembles estrogen. Phytoestrogens acting as estrogen mimics may affect the production and/or the breakdown of estrogen by the body, as well as the levels of estrogen carried in the bloodstream. These mimics can either have the same effects as estrogen or block estrogen's effects. These compounds are generally weak estrogens, in comparison to real estrogen, synthetic estrogen (HRT), and xenoestrogens http://www.energeticnutrition.com/vitalzym/xeno_phyto_estrogens.html
