The Journey Begins
I've got a long way to go and virtually no support here at home, so I'm hoping I can find a few friends here to help me stay on track and keep me accountable. I've done this before (lost almost 80 lbs back in 1995), but I'm fighting thyroid and other health issues now so I know it'll be a little harder. I'd love to hear from you - advice, stories, recipes, whatever. I'm planning on working with a low glycemic diet since that's what worked before, but I know this has to be a lifestyle change, so no hard fast diet plans here. Hope to hear from many of you - and I'd love to hear your experiences!

Although it's often demonized by nutrition advocates, common household salt may play a key role in providing your body with the nutrients it needs to function properly. That's because it's the main source of iodine,a chemical needed to regulate your throid gland an organ which is often described as the thermostat of the body. Located in the front of your neck, the thyroid gland regulates your bodys use of energy and creates and stores hormones that control everything from your metabolism to your growth rate. Without enough of this element pumping through your thyroid you may begin to experience fatigue, depression, lethargy, cloudy thinking, and weight gain.

hi Karen
I need a fitness pal and would love to help you on your journey. the best advice I can think of is you have probably been thinking about eating right and exersizing for awhile,,,,it is time to stop thinking and start doing. Doing is not easy but not doing is even worse it lowers our self esteem and we just fall deeper into a rut at least if we exersize and eat right we build up our self esteem and we can be proud of what we did.
