Trying it again-NEED SUPPORT!!!!
You'd think being a health/Phys Ed teacher-I could control my bad eating habits-NOT I have an amazing sweet tooth-no I just eat alot of bad stuff. So I want to lose 50 lbs but most I have ever did was 25 awhile ago--and now I,m bigger--so I have to change eating habits. Can someone please help me--I'm now prediabetic and high cholestrol. Maybe you could write me a post before I splurge at night like I always do.

Try the simple things first
My doctor recently told me I needed to loose weight and I added what he said an Apple before every meal and a one mile walk around my local park. I did loose pounds quickly and soon 278 lbs became 220. He only added no pizza to that diet and nothing else needed change. I really can stick with this diet and it works now I'm going to add weight watcher healthy diet to this diet and see how it works out for me. I'll keep you posted. Mellowmelody

You can do it!
You just need to reach for an apple or fruit instead of an unhealthy bedtime splurge. I eat Nutrigrain bars now, which aren't entirely healthy, but are much healthier than chocolate or little Debbie cakes.
I agree with Melody, I think walking would be a good tip too. Definitely make sure to drink a lot of water.
Just change little things. If you try to completely make-over your eating habits, you'll more than likely get discouraged or annoyed and stop trying (I've done that too).

50 lbs. is not so bad
I am just starting. Lost 6 and have and I have 159 lbs to lose. 50 doesnt sound so bad! =) I also have bad knees so exercise is harder for me. But I saw a very inspirational video about a man who was basically crippled (injured in VietNam) and very overweight. He started doing "Yoga for regular men" or something like that. Now instead of using the crutches to walk, he lost a bunch of weight and can now run. It is hard to believe it is the same guy. It makes me think.. if this guy can do it so can I. So tomorrow I am going to get my 330 lb butt on the recumbant bike and start working it out and am thinking of getting that yoga program too. Even though I am not a guy. =) I hope you can find your inspiration!

Yes, you can do it-a little will power, just a little goes a long way.
Don't deny yourself ANYTHING. But, that being said-make sure you have only a little bit. I know that sounds lame, and trust me I lOVE food-especially the naughties-but having a little makes a difference. Losing almost 30 lbs now, I have noticed two really MAJOR differences, 1) I can get out of the tub in a split second now, whereas b/f the weightloss, it took a bit of a struggle-(pathetic right? LOL)
2) I can breathe easily whilst giving myself a pedicure-no feeling like I am going to throw up, or lose consciousness!!! HURRAY!@!
Those things are my two biggies-not to mention the loose jeans syndrome- that I LOVE! I have about 58 lbs. to go-so I am in it for the LONG haul-Good luck, y'all!
