Print a sign
What worked for me... post a sign or several at your favorite walking area (park, trail, even your mailbox on your street) titled "NEW WALKING CLUB" and continue w description. Post the meet spot and time w a date and see who shows. Its a great way to meet new people who share the same desires of fitness and weight loss combined w their favorite activity - walking
NEW WALKING CLUB

Finding a walking buddy
Here's what worked for me--our condo association has a web site and they allow free non-commercial ads. I indicated I was looking for a golf, bridge or walking buddy. Found one and we walk every morning with our dogs. I am also checking out GroupOn (online site) for local walking and hiking groups. You need to be brash and actively get out there and recruit. PS, I am 67. Good Luck

If there are any walkers, golfers or bridge players in the northwest Greensboro NC area, let me know.

:)
I'm glad you liked it! It might take a couple weeks, but people will start to notice and wonder what it's all about... Or they'll know and just join in now that they saw a group starting to form. Good Luck & Have Fun!

Chickened Out for now
One of my paranoid friends told me she thought this was dangerous. I haven't given up on this plan but have decided I need someone I already know to do this with me. I still think it's a great idea, I'm just a bit worried about someone showing up with ulterior motives :(

Aim for a goal
Word of mouth worked for me. I live in a very small rural community in Norther NM. Our group lasted about two years. But today you will still see many of the same women walking. Aim for a goal like joining a 5 k race. Also unless you want a complaining session , make clear rules. Unfortunatley I moved two miles south of town to our ranch. I love walking out in the mountains but it hard because if it the bears its the mountion lion(spotted one month ago near by)
Once a group developes ideas will come
Good luck
