Want to feel young again
Im new here. I live in SoCal. I just started playing basketball, after 4yrs of no physical activities due to a work injury. I had my left ankle smashed by a landing gear assembly back in 05. I had surgery in March of 08' and Im trying to get back in shape. I used to box, and play in basketball, softball, and football leagues. Now its 4yrs, and almost 30lbs later. Im 6'2", and weigh 195lbs. I want to lose fat, and build some muscle. So I need help. I made a work out plan here, but i dont know how effective it will be. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I can help w/food
Hi! I understand how carrying the weight around makes you feel old. The physical inactivity plays into that feeling too. When I lost weight, I hadn't considered I would feel "younger" to be honest, but I DID! That is why your post caught my eye. BTW, I am not young (54), but the weight loss left me emotionally and physically feeling younger. I'm no fitness guru, but I am pretty knowledgeable about food. If I can offer assistance, glad to help. GOOD LUCK and SUCCESS.

Don't eat right
Hi one of my pick problems is that i travel 1 1/2 each way to work then sit at a desk all day. I don't like vegtables and limited fruit peak my interest. So how do i get stuff quick an on the go. I'm 230 lbs and 510 i can't stand getting out of breath and the indigestion is terrible. What can i do.
I have no clue. Was thin as a kid up until i had my first child in 1989 i gained 80 lbs and only lost 30 of it. tried nuti systems one year and lost 30 but double it back when i couldn't afford the food anymore. Single mom of two teenagers and i would like to feed them better as well. Any ideas would be so welcomed.
Thanks
Patti

For the picky eaters
I'm not a mom, but I am the girlfriend of a very picky man. Used to not eat "green things", now loves chicken salads and asparagus for breakfast.
The main thing is to pick at least one new fruit/veggie to try every week, but before you buy it, find a recipe that incorporates the veggie in a way that sounds good.
The first time my boyfriend ate asparagus was sauted with a little olive oil and served with a little crumbled bacon over it. Or chicken salads: buy pre-cooked rotissere chicken and carve it up, mix with prewashed, mixed greens, other veggies/fruite like grapes, apples, carrots, tomatoes, onions, etc. Super good with the chicken.
I had never had butternut squash but found a recipe for soup and served it for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it.
Same goes for spaghetti squash (just serve it how you would pasta, with marina sauce and meatballs and it cuts down the carbs and gives you a serving of vegetables instead). My dad, who is diabetic especially loved this because he tries to stay away from starchy pasta.
Let me know how it works out.

Pick easy foods
I understand THAT! This is all only my opinion based on a LIFETIME of dieting...GAWD. I work in an office too. On your way into work think about getting a bottle (or two) of water and a piece of fruit down during your commute. If you like peanut butter sandwiches, that would make a filling, full and balanced breakfast (moderation w/peanut butter 2 TBSP) pita or whole grain are good choices. At work I keep some canned soup and saltines, TV dinners, I know there is a lot of sodium) I keep some apples and bananas around too. On the way home you if you had another piece of fruit, a few almonds and drink another bottle(s) of water. If you could drink 8 cups of water, eat 2-3 fruits, unlimited veggies, limited meat/protein, and 2 dairy products like milk or yogurt, you will lose weight. Breads maybe 4 slices/day. If any of this helps I'm glad.
