Well I am over 60
I hate being overweight. I went from 145 lbs in 3 years. I retired when I was 60 and weighed 145 lbs @5'5". Now I am a very ugly 210 lbs 63 old woman. I do not want to go anywhere in case somebody sees me and says OMG what ever happened to her the next time they talk to somebody. I want my body back and I want to wear all my pretty clothes. When I worked I bought tons of clothes and now all I can do is open the closet and look at them. I have a pile of "fat clothes on the floor of the guest closet and that is what I wear. I re"fuse to pack up those thin clothes. There are so many of them. I want to wear them again and feel good about myself and not cry when I see myself in a mirror, or worse in photos.

Fifty and fat
Well I turned 50 in Feb and have been at my highest weight ever, including pregnancy. I feel like it is impossible and it plays with my mind. I want to be healthy and look better, I dont go to family functions or enjoy life, I have no idea where to start!

I'm over 50 and soon to be over 60
I've been dieting all my life and just want to lose the last 20 pounds. I love that I have already lost 20, but these last ones are hard. I've tried WW, low carbs (SB) and just plain watching my food, but nothing seems to really work. I get bored after a while on anything. Now my doctor suggested counting calories and add in some more activities. So now my goal is stick with this for longer than a week. Suggestions on keeping it interesting are appreciated.

close to sixty and fat
I have always looked younger than my age but with these extra 50 pounds, my almost 80 year old mom and I could be twins. I have decided to count calories is going to be the only way I can lose. I can certainly relate to the other 3 comments on this 50 and over blog. I wish you all luck. Let's do it. Remember that 50 is the new 30.

Count me in!!
HI all, I'm with you on the over 50 group. I turned 60 this past April and have been trying to lose 50 pounds since last August. I lost 26 lbs but gained back a few so could also use help. I have been going to a diet center but can't take the metabolizer pills that is on this program so that made me lose very slow. I am almost finished with them so I figured I would use some of their tactics but with a program that I could use to help me stay within the 1200-1300 calories group. Sp far I have liked what is here. Now for some buddies to cry on their shoulders when the day/week doesn't go so good and cheers when it does. Count me in !!

I feel your pain!
You summed it up pretty well for me in how you feel about going out in public and about buying clothes. That's why I'm here. I hope that I really dedicate myself this time. I turn 50 in 7 months. I would love to celebrate it thin, and I know it will take hard work to get there. I've been thin and felt attractive my whle life. Now I feel like a mess.
I wish you the best of luck. You can do it!!! I lost 20 pounds in six weeks about 3 years ago just walking one hour a day and eating small portions of my regular diet. It took me only 6 weeks to do it.

good luck!
Good luck on your diet although it will take more than luck.
I am 65 and am morbidly obese and yes it is embarrassing to go out in public but guess what? I think the people who matter to us will notice the weight loss and praise us. That is important to me. :)

You Can Do It:
2boysmom123, you can lose those 75 pounds. If I can anybody can. I started out at a high of 323. I then dropped 15 pounds and stopped my healthy eating and exercising plan in 2006. I started back this year Jan 11th and have lost a total of 80.5 from my high of 323 and 65.5 from my start weight of 308 in Jan this year. It won't happen until you make up in your mind that you are ready for this journey. I know you can do it. Take it one day and hour at a time. If you slip, get right back up and on track again. I feel so much better now. I'm off blood pressure medication. I have energy I didn't even know I had. You can do this. Take care and I wish you the best, Linda
