help for sore muscles...
Stretching REALLY well after workouts helps a lot. I stretch all major muscles and it takes a good 15 minutes. Also warm showers or bath feels great after a workout. In the longer term... If you keep up a workout routine for a period of time the soreness isn't as much of an issue anymore.

FOAM ROLLER
Try a foam roller. It hurts like heck while your rolling out sore muscles but they feel great afterward!

Stretching.
I agree with stretching, slow and controlled. A massage once a month is a real treat.

2 day period
It seems that after a 2 day period the soreness does go away---- my problem is that I don't lift weights on any set schedule...I will life faithfully for 2 months then lay off for 2 months! That's where the problem lies!
