Wife
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get my wife to workout with me? I've been working out off and on for several years. This year I have gotten serious and I wan ny wife to get into shape and loose some weight. It's not that her weight bothers me I just want her to get healthy so that we can be around for our 4 year old daughter. My wife is 47 and I am 49. Thanks for any advice.

She has to want to
Whatever you do don't tell her you want her to lose weight! You will have better luck with the angle of both of you keeping healthy to make sure you are around for your daughter. That approach worked for me on my dad - wanting him to be around for ME.

Tell her how good you feel when you're working out and what you like about it (stress relief, more energy, sleeping better, feeling more confident, extra motivation to eat healthy....whatever it means for you) and tell her you love for it to be something you do together. That will likely motivate her more than anything else.

I work out with my husband (although I am often the one motivating him to go so I am not a good parallel for you) and even if we aren't doing the same exercises it's fun to chit chat between sets and just be there together egging each other on.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to put it into action tonight. I'll let you know how it goes.
