Willpower in fitness.
Many of us would like to lose weight in the same way we'd like to get rich by winning the lottery: We'll do it if it doesn't take too much effort. Americans don't want to take the figurative and literal steps to achieve our goals. We want to eat more and weigh less. Diet and fitness exercises—the only proven method for effective, sustained weight loss—sounds good but takes too much willpower for most of us.

It's probably all the marketing
We're bombarded with ads...even on this site...that make it sound like it is easy to lose weight...take a pill and you'll be skinny....sign up for my website and you'll lose weight...change this one thing and the pounds will fall off....all completely unrealistic...but it taps into our desire to be lazy and makes the companies marketing it extremely wealthy. I love that this site is free and understand they need a steady income stream from the ads to support it, but it's a little ridiculous.
