Would Love some helpful advice with Workout Routine and Diet
Hello all,
Well as you can see from my message title I am looking for some advice for my workout routine and especially my diet.
I will be the first one to admit I dont eat very healthy , but I am desperatly looking for advice on how to change that.

As far as my workout goes....I am in the gym everyday , but I am not seeing the results I had "Hopefully" anticipated which makes me tend to belive I am doing something wrong , or even over doing it?

I have posted my workout routine and asked for advice on a few of the other health websites and have not had much luck , so when I came across FitClick I thought I would give this a shot.

If anyone out there would be interested in giving me some advice it would be greatly , greatly appreciated.

The following is my routine , all sets are 3 sets snd 10 reps unless noted.

Day 1:Chest and Abs
Flat Bench Barbell Bench Press
Flat Bench Dumbbell PressPress
Inclined Barbell Bench Press

Flat Bench Dumbbell Pull overs
Inclined Situps with incresing weights 3 sets 25 reps
Ab crunches " " " " "

Day 2 Biceps and Triceps:

Close grip Tricep Barbell Bench Press
Cable Rope Tricep Pull downs

My Take... :)
Hi! It sounds like you have some great exercise routine elements, but I wondered where your cardio workouts are in the mix? My doc told me that I need at least 30 minutes cardio 3X/week to really see results, and that cardio days should be alternated with strength training. For faster results you'd have to step up cardio workouts to at least 45 minutes.

There's also the need to change up the routine...if you seem to hit a plateau fo awhile, changing the exercises used for cardio and strength to focus on some new techniques or new areas of the body can make a huge difference.

Of course, we've heard it ll before, your eating tendencies are a major player. Everyone's a little different in what their body needs or how it reacts to different foods. Tracking it accurately can show you what seems to work for you long term and what does not. I personally find that it's easy to overdo the carbs if I don't track, and that's the kiss of death for me! lol

Hope this helps a little!

I agree with the post above. It sounds like you need to add some more cardio into your routine. Also, make sure the intensity is there. You may just need to increase weights or intensity of cardio(intervals are great). You can even get some cardio benefits w/ strength training if you reduce time between sets (circuit training). Also, I noticed that you don't include any lower body excersizes.

Personal, I do a little warm-up cardo(5-15 min low to mid intensity on the elliptical) before getting started. Monday, Wednesday and Friday I do strength training. Some workouts I focus on higher weights and less reps, other workouts I lower the weights and increase my reps. If I have time, I will finish off with a few min of cardio. Tuesday and Thursday I spend all of my time in the gym on cardio, at least some of it being at a higher intensity level/intervals. Remember that the body will get used to a certain routine, so its good to change it up every now and then.

Diet Diet Diet
I cannot stress enough but your diet will make the difference! If your doing all that exercising and not eating correctly your defeating the purpose. Get on a good clean eating plan and get your metabolism up! Jillian Michaels book "Master your Metabolism" was so educational for me, it actualluy motivated me to change my eating habits after reading and to learn what works for my body. Diet is 75% of weight loss.
