What is the BMR calories? How does it differ from your actual calories?
Thank you!

BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)
Your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is the amount of calories that you burn merely by being alive. If you did nothing but lay in bed all day and all night, the BMR is the amount of calories you would burn doing that. Everything else you do requires additional calories. So if you get up from your bed and go to the refrigerator, that adds to the BMR. If you exercise, that adds to the BMR. Even reading a book adds a miniscule amount to the BMR. Think of it as the base amount of calories based on your weight.

BMR
Just be aware that compared to all the other bmr calculators I have used, the calculations on fitclick are high. You might calculate it on other sites to have an idea of where your bmr should really be.

FitClick "BMR"
We looked at these calculations, and the difference has to do with how how we use and define BMR.
The FitClick BMR includes an activity factor while the definition of BMR does not include any such activity factor. As mentioned above in other posts, BMR is the calories you need if you stay in bed and don't move at all). But we viewed BMR by itself as inaccurate since no one stays in bed all day and doesn't move, so an activity factor was added for everyday activity. So when users see this number they are comparing it to the BMR calculators that don't include activity factor and that is why it differs.
However, FitClick needs to be clearer about this on the "BMR" calculator page. And we discovered that we need a better
way to edit BMR, because BMR is only calculated during registration. We'll build an updater tool and add some descriptive information to explain how we calculate BMR (as we feel we are actually more accurate than other BMR calculators out there).
