burnt calories by lifting weights by lift wieghts vs cardio
I am under the impression that you burn more calories when you lift weights vs cardio.
Is this true and why. If so why wouldn't I just try to lift weights everyday instead of doing cardio to lose weight.

Thanks

kind of true
generally speaking cardio will burn more than lifting, but lifting has a cumulative effect. when you stop running you stop burning calories. when you stop lifting weight you keep burning calories. when lifting heavy enough weight the body has to repair the muscle. this means that you are constantly burning calories so in this respect you are burning more calories. however if you do not lift heavy enough weight you will not cause your muscle to "rip" and it will not need to heal itself. if you are working out doing reps of more than 10 then you are not producing an anabolic (muscle growing) effect. If you are doing more than 10 or doing 10 and can still keep going then you are only causing the muscle to inflate with blood, which may look good for a small amount of time but then the effect goes away and you do not get the positive effects of having continual caloric burn as well as not building muscle. that inflating the muscle is often refered to as 'tonning' the muscle. In actuallity you really do not tone anything the only way to tone is to build muscle and to lose fat.

burn more
So what you are saying is to lift as high as possible with lower reps. More pain more gain (well more weight loss).

Not completely true
Heavy weights with lower reps (6-8) does work, but it also gives you a bulker look. Low weights high rep (12-16) works for a time and gives you a leaner look. The best thing to do is to work your way up. Start with the low weights high rep, if by 12 you aren't grinding your teeth, ad more weights.

Weights vs cardio
It is also important to remember, muscle mass burns calories at rest, which "revs up" the metabolism. In other words, the more lean muscle mass you have, the more energy your body uses. As jsename stated, low weights with higher reps builds a leaner look. Once you can get past 12 to 16 reps (3 sets) you can move increase the weight a little bit.
One thing from other posts I disagree with: is the after burn with cardio. Many studies have shown that caloric burn continues after cardiovascular exercise stops. But, on the same token, muscle metabolizes. Fat does not. Another thing you need to consider, you need to work out your heart and lungs for good health. A "cardio" workout is called this because it raises your heartrate, and increases your respirartory needs (your cardiovascular system).

This website gives you some great ideas about muscle. They do not grow according to "ripping", but as a result of stress. This stress may be through repetitions, or weight. Ideally, a combination of both. As was stated before, high weights, low reps gets you bulked up. Lower weights, higher reps tones the muscles, which is more than increased blood flow....your muscles are "stressed" into building new growth by way of the higher reps, therefore toning them. However, fat loss will enhance the definition on your newly toned muscles!
I hope this was useful! Best of luck!

Being overweight or obese can lead to a number of health problems. While there are many different “fancy” diets out there, a balanced lifestyle and a nutritious diet are the keys to a healthy lifestyle and better weight control. To get rid of excess weight, it is enough to monitor your diet and devote more time to sports. And of course, you should monitor the work of your heart and blood pressure using https://apps.apple.com/us/app/welltory-blood-pressure-pulse/id1074367771 while playing sports and just while walking. This tracker is unique in that you can track important symptoms and vital signs of your body.

Yes, it is very important to take into account the moment when you are trying to lose weight, then this is a very big stress for the body and it is simply necessary and correct to control the level of stress)
