exercise workout plans
Hello all: I am new to this site and have to say loving it immensely. I am wondering if someone can tell me how do i delete and exercise plan that is saved on my exercise tracker? I click on delete but it is still there when i go back and i dont know how to get rid of it. Any help is appreciated and forgive me if i posted this in the wrong area.

Make sure you save
Hi and welcome. It is a pretty sweet site.

After you delete the execrcise, make sure that you click the "save edits" link. It can be a little tough to notice because its not a button, just text. It is above the box with excersize selections in it. I hope that helps. Good luck.

HI: GLC519 Thank you for the welcome and your information. I have tried to delete and save edits but what seems to be happening is it will take me to another day in the future and insert that exercise i dont want into that day. I cant seem to get rid of this particular exercise, any other suggestions?

Are you trying to make an exercise permanently disappear from a workout? If so, are you using a FitClick or User-created workout? Or are you using the FitClick "Select" track?

Permanent Exercise Substitution
There have been a lot of requests by FitClick members to allow for permanent substitution of an exercise within a workout. Often users choose a FitClick workout, Select track workout, or another Member workout and while they enjoy the workout, the creator of the workout included an exercise that is not available at that user's gym or home. So, the user swaps in a new exercise. However, once that workout is submitted and a new workout for next week is created, the old exercise reappears. Frustration ensues.

Some of this is intentional. If a member creates a workout in a specific order with specific exercises, our feeling was that this particular content was what made up the workout. Changing exercises permanently make it a different workout that requires a different name. In addition, there is no way for the software to know if this is a permanent change or just a temporary modification. We would be required to ask at this point and since we would have to do so at every swap we felt this could be an annoying request. Plus it was going to be very hard from a technical standpoint.

Our solution is to use the "Save as New Plan" functionality in the Workout Tracker. This service allows you to choose dates of workouts that have been saved in your calendar and create a new routine. So to permanently remove an exercise, you would simply need to swap in exercises during the first week of using the workout. Once those days are edited you would then save those series of days as a new plan, giving it a new name (we would suggest that you reference the original creator in the name), description, etc. This is how all the FitClick and Member workouts are created in the first place, so you're not losing any functionality.

Unfortunately, the same doesn't apply for the Select track. You can absolutely do the above with your Select track workout -- modify and save the workout days, choose the days in the calendar, give it a new name, etc. Once you create the new routine the days will stay the same -- whenever you submit results for a day, a new day in the next cycle (usually 1 week, but it can be shorter) will be created. The exercise you didn't want will be gone.

However, you will lose some Select track functionality when you do this. The Select track adjusts subsequent weight prescriptions based on your input -- but the FitClick and Member workouts do not have this functionality. Also, the Select track does start trading out exercises over time for variety's sake. You would lose that functionality as well. (Note: Exercise changes are very subtle and don't happen until after about 12 weeks -- the intent of the Select track was to deliver a basic building block for beginner weight lifters so the early stages do not include many changes.)

So, if you're using the Select track and the functionality lost is something that you deem important then you might want to just swap (at least for awhile). But if progressive weight prescription is not important to you, you can use this method to make permanent alterations to your routine. If you're using a Member or FitClick workout then feel free to create new versions of the workout that suit your need.
