fat burning :cardio vs. strength building
Trainers at my gym told me that weight training burns more fat than cardio training does because as the muscle is repairing itself it is burning calories, but that obviously both are necesary.

I also know that if you are trying to loose fat instead of build muscle that you are supposed to do more reps and less weight as opposed to more weight with less reps.

My question is how much weight training to do. I really don't want to build before I loose 30-40 pounds of fat.

weight train...
you will burn more fat and increase your metabolism by weight training. if you're new to weight training start with 3 times a week. don't worry about building muscle before losing weight....weight training will help you see the results of weight loss and women don't generally "bulk up" unless they are heavy lifting often. lift a moderate weight about 12-15 reps for 2-3 sets. I've been doing this for about 2 weeks and have already noticed a change in weight and shape. hope this helps....

weight lifting
I've found that you really need to make sure that you get a variety of exercises. When lifting weights its best if you can extend the amount of time in motion. When contracting the muscle count 3-5 seconds and do 12-15 like was said earlier. Taking longer to perform the exercise will raise the heart rate and help you to breath deeper, increasing oxygenation

Weight loss stopped since working out for 2 weeks.
I have lost 20 lbs before working out- now I have not lost weight for 2 weeks. I do a very low cardio for 20 min (wihich is really hard) on the elicpise machine. 15 min on the bike, and then some weight machine for my legs and stomach.
I think I might of taken my food intake to low, but if I eat more I will gain right?

Any suggestions would help.
