jumping rope and back problems
I seem to have strained something in my back during a 15 min session of jumping rope. Has anyone experienced this? what did you do to correct the problem?

Sore Back.
Oh Dear, a similar thing happened to me on a mini trampoline. I got the thing thinking low impact. Right? Wrong. I was jumping lightly decided "I can do this" then started jumping higher. I landed then crack something went in my back. I suspect I compressed a disk or something the pain was excruciating I hobbled to my bed and lay flat out it was weeks before I felt better. Needless to say I got rid of the trampoline and have never 'jumped' since the only thing I can suggest is to lay flat..no pillow. If that helps it will take time to heal if not i'd see a doctor. Hope you feel better soon

Did you stretch afterwards?
I've heard of tight hamstrings causing lower back pain... I get shin splints if I don't stretch my calves afterwards. If your back is arching from the weight of your abdomen when you jump, you may need to do some bent-knee sit ups so that those muscles can help straighten out your lower back. I wouldn't do any more jump rope until my back was feeling supported. (I was taught to only jump high enough to clear the rope and to shift my weight from side to side so that the dominant side doesn't get injured.) Hope this helps.

I'm glad you shared your story involving a mini trampoline, but horrified that you suffered such an injury! When you landed, was it a regular landing right onto the trampoline? I used to love jumping on full-size ones and was thinking about getting a mini. You couldn't have been jumping very high, right? How high?
