recovered from eating disorder 5 years ago...and stuck!
Hi I'm T. I'm trying to lose a total of 10 lbs. at the most 16 lbs. I'm 29 years old 5'8 and now 140 lbs. (However I was 143 a week ago) and I have some muscle (I've been working out 5 - 6 days a week for over 10 years). I've always been bigger due to my height and my hip bones are really huge!!!

I'm obsessed with exercise, but it's not having a positive effect on me because I overtrain. I recently cut back from an hour of cardio everyday and circuit training every day to a new split and a half hour cardio 6 days aweek with interval training. So far the results are positive. I was anorexic from ages 19 - 24 and went from 102 (bones were popping out of my chest) to 135 within a few months. I tried to focus on adding muscle. I have to say that I do look sickly if I go under 120...so my struggle here is....will I ever be able to lose weight like a normal person? Or did I mess everything up when I had the eating disorder? I mean in the end I'd rather be healthy and able to have children some day rather than sickly. My summer weight is usually 134 and as long as everything is tight/ not jiggly I'm good with that.

Thanks everyone and good luck ; )
Oh, also I just started a new diet plan....
sunday - moderate carbs (type of carbs...whole grains, fruits, etc.)
monday - lower amount of carbs
tuesday - lowest amont of carbs
wednesday - moderate carbs
thursday - lower amoung of carbs
friday - lowest amount of carbs
repeat - like a mountain low... medium...highest (which is literally a bowl of cereal & fruit...maybe frozen yogurt) then medium, low...seems to be working well!

Take care of yourself
Hi T-

How weird. I was in the SAME EXACT situation as you from ages 19-24. I weighed 92 lbs and almost died before it was over. I am 37 now and I sometimes think "wow I am so glad that is all over" and then some times, I really wonder if I will ever be completely normal again. It is not something that will EVER go away completely unfortunately. I am a mental health therapist and have some really good insight into my issues now and try to help others. I think that the most important thing for you is to get REALLY comfortable with yourself and not strive so hard for perfection. Most people who suffer with annorexia are perfectionist and extremely intelligent people. You probably realized at 102 lbs that being that small didn't solve any of the problems that had......just created more. I am 5'8 too and I can say honestly that under 150 lbs I start to look really too thin so if you are at 140 you probably are on the really small side. Don't be so hard on yourself. Evaluate what is going on in your life and what your motivation for wanting to change the way you look now really is.
I just had a baby and I am 30 lbs heavier than you are now. I would really like to be back to 155, but I have to accept this extra weight right now to breast feed and give my baby what he needs. I feel HUGE and at times like these....I panic a little and I see some of the old calorie counting, food restricting and obssessive exercise and weighing wanting to come out again.
Take care of yourself. Hit me up if you need to chat.
