where am i going wrong
i've been monitoring my food intake/calories for 3 days now. on monday i went over like 767 calories not good. today tuesday i'm more aware of what i'm eating and what i ate. with that being said i went over 115 calories. although i'm improving i wonder if i'm loosing. my goal is to try to loose 2-3 pounds a week. i work in a fast pace no rest kind of enviroment but my slip ups may be my down fall. what should i do? I really want to loose this weight its kiiiiiiiilling me.

Are You Eating Enough?
Melody,

You're only eating 115 cal a day? You may not be eating enough, so your body is going into survival mode and holding onto every calorie. You may want to double check the amount of calories you should be eating each day.

eating fine
jack,

what i meant is that my calorie intake is between 1300-1450 and for the past few days ive eaten well pass 1450 calories. on monday i went over my required amount of calories by 767. on tuesday i went over like 115 calories but got up in the middle of the night and had two bites of my left over salad from dinner which i already logged. i,m always hungry lately and i feel like i'm being deprived. trying to fill up on water but find myself getting up in the middle of the night and that only leads to me thinking about food again. I'm struggling and wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

Not an expert just what I am reading and have known from the past
You have to track calories eaten against calories burned. Track everything you put in your mouth that being juice etc. Don't drink soda just spice up water with lemon or lime (good cleanser). Then track all the walking, cleaning, anything you do that your body is moving track it. Find a calorie counter on line to track your actions. This site only seems to have work outs (if you know different please tell me)
I have never been over weight by more then 5 lbs my entire life & had a baby later in life & I gained 50lbs. It broke my heart, spirit & esteem but I am not giving up I am in this for the long hall now & I hope you are also. Drink water water water.....look at food & imagine wearing it!!! I have done this my whole life and it helps when you want to slip on a soft piece of buttery lettuce as opposed to a lumpy bumpy cookie.

hungry at night
Hi again, it may help you to eat oatmeal at night just the plain kind but that should help regulate your blood sugar while you are sleeping. Remember to leave yourself those extra 150 calories though to eat it. don't eat it to late but at 8pm or so should be ok. I have done this at night & still woke up weighing less. Its all about calories in calories burned I really believe that.

fiber
another thing to consider is increasing your fiber intake. try eating a bowl of high-fiber cereal at night as the fiber won't be absorbed but you will feel full

another thing to consider is that you might have decreased your fat intake too much -- we all need some fat and fat helps you feel full

also, try spreading out your meals throughout the day and eat slower -- let your body realize that it's full which will lead to smaller, more frequent meals

Plan ahead
Since you are in a fast paced environment are you eating on the go? Just grabbibg what is closest? Maybe plan meals and snacks ahead and have only healthy items near by

small portions and calorie tracker
This site has a great calorie tracker...that's what brought me here. Click on "Diets" tab, then click on Diet Tracker. You can select foods eaten for each meal, and add your own if not on the lists.

I just started what I hope will be the diet to get me to my healthy weight. Although a lot of people are opposed, under my physicians guidance I am taking prescribed appetite suppresants (phentermine) to control my appetite. I will do this no more than 3 months, but the goal is to jumpstart my weightloss to give me the encouragement and confidence to continue to my goal weight.

Since October 28th I have lost 6.5 lbs. I eat usually a scrambled egg in the morning (for protein boost) along with about 1/4 c of fresh fruit. I keep string cheese with me and usually have a stick in mid morning and one mid afternoon. I normally eat out at lunch (i'm in outside sales) and choose a grilled chicken salad--sometimes some clear broth soup. I'm trying to eat earlier (by 7:00 pm) and am trying to eat more chicken--and I'm learning to like fish.

But if I'm at a dinner party or with friends--I just try to make good choices (eg. instead of stuffing & mashed potatoes, just a small portion of potatoes). I've reduced my carbs--but not eliminated them.

So far, I don't feel deprived of anything--actually feel empowered since everything is on my diet, I just have to choose what I do or don't eat.

Hope this helps--I've done too many of the Adkins, Southbeach, Cabbage Soup diets and have only gotten frustrated and gained more weight after I was finished.
