Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a standard a 12-cup muffin pan. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
With an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat until combined. Add flour mixture, and beat just until combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
Divide batter among cups, filling each about halfway. Bake until toothpick inserted in the center of a cupcake comes out clean, about 20 minutes.
Transfer to wire rack; cool 10 minutes in pan. Flip pan, turning cupcakes out, top side up to cool completely.
