Melt half the butter in a pan over medium heat. Spread mayonnaise on one side of each bread slice. Put cheese between mayonnaise side of bread. Place sandwich in heated pan and butter. Now spread butter on top side of sandwich. When first side had browned, flip over and cook until other side is browned.
