Preheat oven 350F. Butter and line cake pan(s).

Cream butter/margarine and sugar.

Beat egg one at a time.

Whisk in vanilla extract.

Sift flour & baking powder.

Mix wet and dry ingredients until smooth.

Part cake mix, into two equal parts, and pour into cake pans.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until fork/toothpick comes out clean 1" from edge of pan.

Let sit for 5 minutes in cake pan.

Remove from cake pan carefully to fully cool.

Cut off top of one layer to make it level. Frost the top with lemon frosting.

Place second layer on top. Frost cake entirely with vanilla frosting.
