heat oven to 375 F. Place sheets of foil on countertop for cooling cookies
combine shortening, sugar, and brown sugar in large bowl. beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. beat in sour cream, egg, cherry juice and vanilla.
combine flour, baking soda, and salt. mix into creamed mixture at low speed until well blended. stir in chocolate chips, nuts and cherries (1/4 cup well drained chopped - about 10 cherries)
drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet
bake at 375 F for 10 to 12 minutes or until set. do not overbake. cool 2 minutes on baking sheet. removie cookies to foil to cool completely
