Directions:

Start oven, set at moderate, 350 degrees. Grease a 4 by 8 inch loaf pan with butter or margerine.

Sift the flour, baking powder, soda and salt together.

Cream the butter, margerine or shortening. Add the sugar and beat thoroughly. Add the egg and combine thoroughly.

Peel the banana and mash with a fork. Use enough to fill 2/3 cup. Add to the creamed mixture, then add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk, in 3 additions. Mix lightly after each addition. Stir in the nuts.

Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes. Let rest in loaf pan until partially cooled. Then turn out onto a rack to finish cooling. Cut into 12 slices.
